You look nice.

"The operation at the Knee... why did you switch me out with (Y/n) and Kikimora? I- I mean, granted, it's great that (Y/n)'s leading her first mission, but can't I be there to accompany her?"
"Everyone has a use, Hunter. Kikimora has her intricate little plans, the scouts carry out orders and you and (Y/n).. well, the Titan has big plans for the both of you.
And it would be such a hassle to find some replacements."
A chilling shiver ran down Hunter's spine as the word 'replacements' left The Emperor's tongue.
"So, right now, you can be useful by staying safe, in the castle." Emperor Belos said,
"If this is punishment for failing my last mission, I swear I can do better." Hunter argued to his uncle. Internally begging him to go.
The Emperor didn't acknowledge his words, only wishing him a good night and shutting the boy out of the room.
Hunter stared at the ground, wondering, what should he do?
On one hand, he could stay in the castle and be "useful"... but how is that being useful? He's not doing anything that could be of use to the Emperor.
On the other hand, he could sneak out and help (Y/n) on the mission. Yes! That's what he'll do!
He'll prove that he's useful.
"Hey, (Y/n)," Hunter greeted as he opened her bedroom door.
"Hey, Hunter. What's up?" The girl was sat on her bed, petting her fox when he'd came in.
"Nothing, Belos just swapped me out of the mission." The boy took a seat on her bed next to her.
"Swapped you out of the mission? What do you mean?" She asked as Pip left her lap and trotted over to Hunter.
"He replaced me with Kikimora. So looks like you'll be going to the Knee with her." Hunter looked down at the fox, "Here's your friend." He said, taking the red cardinal out from his cloak.
"Oh you're kidding me!" (Y/n) groaned, "Really?? Her? Ugh, I mean like, full offense to her, but I really don't want to go on a mission with her."
"I already tried to convince Belos to let me go, but he said I'm just supposed to stay here."
"Mmmm.." (Y/n) hummed in frustration, "How much you wanna bet she's gonna throw me off the tallest peak of the Knee with a smile?"
Hunter chuckled, "10 snails."
(Y/n) let out a sigh and chuckle of frustration, "I wish you could be there with me." She said, laying her head down in his lap.
"I do too." Hunter smiled to himself with a blush residing on his cheeks.
'He's gonna sneak out, isn't he?'
'You guessed it.' The palismen spoke to each other.
"Listen, listen," Hunter said to his partner, "As long as you have at least one witness, she won't try to kill you." He joked.
"That's not even a joke! That's genuine advice!" She chuckled lightly. "Ugh, how do I even lead a mission? Much less, get the scouts to actually listen to me."
"Hey, just be like me. Assertive and kind of a dick sometimes. It'll get the scouts to listen to you and Kikimora to screw off."
———Time skip because yes———
Kikimora glared daggers at (Y/n) the whole way over to the Knee.
Hunter, I wish you were here...
"Sooo.. Kikimora... uh. What do you like to do in your free time?" (Y/n) asked, awkwardly, trying to break the tension between them.
"Shut up."
"Ohhhhkay. You gotcha."
The airship landed and the crew got off. They finally stepped into the fluffy snow that laid on the ground of the Knee, leaving footprints everywhere.
"Alright scouts! You know what to do. Dig for the lake!" Kikimora commanded as an abomaton soldier hoisted her onto its shoulder.
The scouts took out their tools and began digging through mines.
"Dig faster scouts!" She demanded.
(Y/n) felt uneasy, "Kikimora. The tunnels are unstable. It'll cave in on them if they don't slow down."
"Shut up, Silver Scat."
(Y/n) pursed her lips to a line. Was it really so hard to just call her by her name?
"This could be my last chance to show Belos what I can do. And I just know that brat, Golden Guard, will try to spoil it."
"Wha- but he's not even here." (Y/n) stood there, confused.
(Y/n) looked at the captain. The captain shrugged and sighed, "She's getting so paranoid."
"Yeah and she's gonna get all of the scouts all hurt." (Y/n) jeered quietly.
"Just be like me." Hunter said. "Assertive and kind of a dick."
Assertive and kind of a dick. I can do that.
"No. Kikimora." She said, sternly, drawing the attention of the red biped demon, "What matters is keeping our scouts safe. Not rushing them so that you can look better. I'm leading this mission today, so the scouts are my responsibility." (Y/n) said, trying her best to sound like Hunter would. "Scouts! Don't rush it. Dig steadily."
Kikimora grumbled and stalked away.
"Okay. Here's the plan:
I slip in with this disguise, I find the Titan Blood before Kiki, I give it to Belos, Boom! I'm useful again!" Hunter exclaimed behind a tree. He was dressed in a stolen scout's uniform.
The tree Hunter was hiding behind was suddenly shot down by abomination goo that he barely managed to flee.
"What the- Kikimora! What did that tree do to you!!" (Y/n) yelled at the demon standing atop the abomatron.
"Ma'am! Is everything all right?" The captain asked.
"I just thought I heard an annoying voice." Kikimora sneered.
"You thought you heard a voice, so you shot a tree. Makes perfect sense." (Y/n) stared at Kikimora with a sarcastic look behind her silver mask.
"Shut up! I know what I heard."
"Kikimora, are the trees talking to you? Is the cold getting to you?" (Y/n) smirked, making Kikimora grit her teeth.
"Shut. Up. Before I shoot you too."
