"Atticus? Are you busy?" Sona tapped the great white wolf on his shoulder.

The sizzling summer sun beat upon the dog and warrior woman.

"Not at all, Sona. Can I help you?" He turned.

His fur was neat and brushed. Probably by the elf-Luke Greenleaf who now was in the wolf pack.

"I wish I was here with better news." Sona sat in the leaves of Atticus' den. "Darak is missing."

"Missing?" The dog lied on his belly, paws stretched out in front of him. "A bit hard to misplace a giant like him, yes?"

She took notice of a golden necklace which hung from his neck. Perhaps it brought good luck or was just for decoration.

"I've looked all over town." She played with a twig between her fingers, sword, and armor on and ready to go hunting.

Atticus pondered her words, ear flicking and tail flat out behind him.

"Last evening, I heard voices. And saw the flicker of torches in the distance. Like fireflies. I woke Luke and had him investigate. I didn't want hunters after us. A widespread problem with mythical wolves, such as I. Luke came back to me and said that they were carrying something huge. However, he couldn't tell what it was. Last night was dark and cloudy. He didn't want to get up close. He heard one of the men mumbles 'Queen Adina.' That was odd." He nodded.

"The queen. I've heard lots of stories about that witch. Alright, well...I should get going." Sona stood, brushing dirt from her clothes.

"Be safe, Sona. A witch like her has powers no mere mortal can imagine. Do you want me to come with you?"

"You're very kind, but no. You're a father and alpha. You need to stay here." She pets the canine. "Thank you."
