Chapter 1

Alone in her room, Pearl was right there relaxing on her bed. She always preferred to be in her own room. Unless she was in the study, no one would see her wandering in the house or the streets. Television was not really her thing. This stands to reason she would get her headsets on all the time listening to RnB type of music. The music was always playing so loud that whenever someone wants her. They would have to go to her room personally and not shout her name from other rooms.

Pearl was quite a reserved person, a pure definition of an introvert. Her circle of friends was very small, she had two friends. A female and a male, but she was closer to the male friend named Jackson. They have been friends since they can remember. In their childhood days they would visit each other a lot and sometimes do sleep-over. And then she only knew her female friend, Amanda, for three years. They only met on their matric year. Pearl was doing her second year at university when she reunited with her high school friend. On this year they got closer more than ever.

Not that there was something special about her bedroom. Just that it was the only place she would get her privacy. While relaxing, her brain was having an over flow of thoughts. It seemed all the energy saved suddenly went straight to her brain making it extremely active. She could not stop smiling while having these thoughts. She wasn't thinking about her school work or her friend's jokes. Instead it was something bigger. It was the first time these thoughts hit her. She has not, in her entire life, fell in love. She barely had a crush while on her teens.

But things were different now. A boy, which she doesn't know and never asked for a name, approached her at campus, not that she hasn't been approached by boys before. It's just that he was so different from the previous ones. He looked so innocent and came across to be similar in character. He had expressed his longing for Pearl. About how much he has been carrying the love in his heart. His heart was filled with love so much that it poured onto Pearl.

"Could he be the one and only prince charming? Could he be my knight in shining armor. Could he be Mr. Right and ultimately the perfect boyfriend ever?"  These questions were floating in her mind. Although she had high hopes for a possible relationship. She had doubts too. The "What if he cheats on me?" question brought down her confidence. She couldn't discuss this with her father and her mother went to the heavens before she could even turn four years.

Amanda was the only person she could turn to. Giving Amanda a ring, they talked but the call didn't last because her father interrupted by opening the door. Amanda had told Pearl to give it a try and see where the relationship goes. It was the end of her joyful moment as she had to continue cooking. She had burned one pot and her father was very cross. "Have you lost your nose because of that stupid phone?", her father asked angrily. With her hands shaking she replied, "Sorry dad, I was asking Amanda about our school work". It was the first time Pearl burned food. Nonetheless, she slept with smiles.

CHAPTER 2

Finally the morning came, the morning that took a year to arrive for Pearl. She was in class, looking straight into the lecturer's face without even blinking. One would swear she was paying full attention. But that wasn't true at all. Pearl was like a zombie paying attention but she was thinking about the boy. Thinking about how she will behave around him. "I mustn't act happy", she said talking alone. The class was so quite half of it heard her say that. But then no one commented on it and the lesson continued. The moment was so embarrassing for her and left her feeling awkward.

Then came the big moment, she had seen the boy coming to her from distance. Suddenly she was starting to feel butterflies in her flat stomach and her heart racing. Just by greeting her, the sounds of his voice were angelic. Every word he uttered sounded as if it was extracted straight from a love poem. She was glowing, shyingly trying to hide her smile. Love was written all over her.
