5 years later
Dream woke up to the ringing of his alarm. Softly cursing under his breath, he prayed to his deceased mother that his little devil wasn't up yet. After he turned off the alarm, he lay in bed for a few moments more, just basking in the sunlight that came in the window. Feeling the softness of the sheets that he purchased some years back in an AU. He will have to go back to get some more yarn, he was running out of materials, and he wasn't anywhere near finished with his next project. Sighting softly, he opened his eyes and braced himself for another day.
But before he could get out of the bed, something- somebody slammed into him with an oof.
"Palette! How many times do I have to tell you to not go slamming into people in the morning? Hmmmm?" he softly, but firmly scolded the four year old boy now sitting on his lap.
"But Papa! Today is the day that uncle Blue visits! He missed the last two visits and I really missed him! He's coming this time right? Riiiiight?"
Dream tought about it. His son was right, Blue did visit every week or so for the past two years. After of course some written contracts and treathening, because he didn't want anybody else coming knocking on his door, namely a bastard creator or his dear brother.
Truth to be told, Blue was really vague on the reason he couldn't come for the past two weeks, from what Dream could tell, it was because his brothers hiding place was finally found by the 'righteous' Sanses, and there was an ambush planned. He didn't really care, he just hoped that Blue was alright. Dream still cared for him after all, he just didn't really care for Ink and the other idiots. He didn't exactly hate them.... he just wouldn't mind if they all randomly combusted or something.
As for Nightmare, well... It was more complicated. He didn't wish any harmful for his twin, but he really couldn't let himself worry about him anymore. It took him some time to realize why Nightmare seemed to hate him, and a little more to see how stupid it was for Nightmare to not even try to talk. I mean, okay, he was beaten, but honestly? Did he really think that Dream didn't notice? He had to give it to his brother, he tried to lie, but come on, they could literally sense emotions.
But that neither here or there now, tha past is in the past, he'll deal with that when the time comes. Yes, when, because even tough Dream hid himself in his own little dimension very well, he did have to get some other things from other AU's, and he wasn't that naive to think that he wouldn't come into contact with any of the gang's Sanses.
But he now had to give an answer to his son first.
"I sure hope so, sweetie. And I don't think that he would be able to keep himself away, after all, you are his favourite nephew!" and while saying that, he made sure to rub Palette's cheek in a parently manner.
"Papa! Stop it!"
"Oh? You want me to tickle you? If you want it that bad, then I have no other choice!"
"Wha- Papa noOO-"
Any other complain was drowned out by the following laughter. Dream kept on tickling his son for a few minutes, before setting him down.
"Well, sweetie, go down to the kitchen, I'll be there after I get dressed."
Dream watched as Palette flew out of the door and he chuckled after he heard a small thump and an 'I'm fine!' from the direction of the stairs. He then stood up, walked to his dresser and opened it, looking for his black leggings and light blut sleeveless shirt.
After he got dressed and bruched his teeth he walked out of the bathroom and down the stairs into the kitchen. It was an open space, so he could watch as Palette drawed with colored pens and crayons on the table. He was always such an artists, but thank got his other fathers powers didn't transfer to him. Just the tought made Dream frown as he started to get out the ingredients for scrambled eggs. It wasn't much he knew, but neither he or Palette were too hungry in the morning, so it was fine.
Setting down the plated, he glanced at the clock. It was half past seven, so aroung half an hour before Blue got here. He usually got here at 8, stayed for some lunch if he could, then went home.
They ate their breakfast quietly, just some scolding for Palette, so that he didn't eat too fast. Before Dream knew it, the breakfast was eaten, the plates were clear, and he was in the living room with Palette waiting for Blue. As the clock stuck eight, as if summoned, there was a knock on the door.
"I'll go get it, stay here sweetie. And remember where to go if papa gives you the clue?"
"Back to papa's room, into the closet and from there into the safe room where I'll stay until papa comes to get me with the code."
"Great. Now just sit tight and wait."
Honestly, it might seem a bit strange for a little boy to have protocol in cases of emergencie, but Dream wasn't taking any chances. Who know when will the time come that somebody manages to follow Blue or find out that he knows and force him to take them to Dream? It was just some precauction just in case.
Dream opened the door.
"Blue! I was just waiting for you, honestly what ha-"
And that was the moment that Dream realized the scene before his eyes.
One.
Blue was there, all right, with a look of guilt in his eyes, but there was some releif as well.
Two.
Blue was not alone. There were two others in his care, yes, because the seemed to have some cuffs. Dream recognized them, it prevented the use of magic.
Three.
It was not just two random skeletons. His brother, and the destroyer. Nightmare and Error.
Honestly, Dream could feel the smile on his face slip from warm and inviting to calm and cold.
"Blue. Come on in, we don't want to let these guests stay on their feet too long, do we?"
And with that, he turned sharply on his heels, knowing that Palette was on his way to the room already, and that Blue would lock the door after them.
He went over to the armchair that was positioned directly across the sofa, a coffee table between them, and sat down. He watched with a neutral face as his visitors sat down after he motioned them to, sunk back into the armchair, and broke the silence.
"Well, I sure hope that you have a very good explanation ready Blueberry, because I'm just two nerves away from throwing you all out. So speak. What got you coming to me with these two?"
Dream saw Blue glup, took in the way The other two skeletons face were annoyed, and listened to the story of Blue.
