Personality: Emerson is a social outcast by choice, he's terrified of rejection so he chose to reject everyone else before they get the chance to reject him. Even if he tried to be social, they'd be incredibly out of they're depth. Being autistic, socializing is torture for him, he never knows the "right" thing to say, and that stresses him out beyond belief. He hides hoe socially inept he is by putting up a cold front, trying to appear cool when in reality they feel like they're drowning. He is by all means, an EdgyTeenager™️, very much stereotypically the middle school perception of "cool and mysterious." He doesn't fully understand how to decipher and abide by social cues, so a lot of the time they just end up being unintentionally mean. What sounds like a compliment to him, is extremely rude to most of society.
Backstory: Emerson grew up very privileged, being both white and rich with relatively progressive, accepting parents. He knows this, but they can't help but feel like they're completely alone in the world. Despite the big house and loving parents, he /was/ always alone. His parents were workaholics, working even in their free time, leaving absolutely no space for Emerson. Growing up autistic is extremely isolating, they couldn't socialize or communicate properly, so it's only natural to feel like nobody will ever understand him. He couldn't make and keep friends, and they were bullied all throughout their school life despite mostly keeping to himself, either for being trans, autistic, or just for the way they looked.
