{Chapter 26}
Everyone woke up early and headed to the station to work. Melinda didn't sleep at all last night as she had too many thoughts going on in her head. She was thinking mostly about the whole Terrigan situation and how it has affected the whole community. It was in the water, the products that use that water, or it was in tablets, either way, no one should have been infected by it. She had her phone with her and kept checking in with Phil about the situation. Melinda leaned against her arm on the window as she was dozing in and out of sleep. Aaron, who was driving, would look over at her every couple seconds to make sure she was okay. He at one point placed a hand on her knee and she was too tired to acknowledge or say something. Daisy smiled at the man for caring for her, but looked at her mother with worry for her health. She never dozed off during the day, barely ever at night, but she was always acting like she was never tired and still fought through the mission. Aaron parked the car and everyone walked immediately to the station as he waited back for Melinda. When he parked the car, it caused it to abruptly jump a bit making her wake up. Aaron got out of the car and walked over to her side to open her door.
"Are you alright?" Aaron asked her
He grabbed her hand as he helped her out of the car. She stumbled a little from being sleepy, nodding lightly, before pulling the blazer out of her bag. Aaron noticed it with a look of curiosity, and couldn't help but smile adoringly at the sight of her wrapping herself with his blazer. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder as he lead her sleepy form into the station. Daisy saw her and pulled a chair out for the woman to sit in.
Derek looked to JJ with curiosity as he whispered, "Why is she so tired? Did she go to sleep at all?"
JJ shrugged, "I don't know. I went to sleep earlier than she did, so I don't even know if she was sleeping."
Aaron wrapped the blazer right around her to keep her warm, even though it was not needed as it felt like a dessert in the station.
Daisy sat in a chair next to her mother, looking at her with concern, "Are you alright? You never doze off this much. Are you thinking about the case Coulson is working on?"
Melinda looked at her at the last question and Daisy immediately knew that it was indeed about the mission.
Daisy sighed, "We don't know if it's possible for you to be affected by the Terrigan."
Spencer looked at the mother-daughter duo confused, "Terrigan?"
Daisy and Melinda looked at him and the whole team realizing that they said too much. JJ glanced down at her feet as she knew more than the rest do.
