-Werewolves are a tribe or pack-based race of shapeshifters, and perhaps the only Shapeshifters left in existence. They can change from a humanoid form into a wolf-form, and in either form have immense strength and heightened senses. As of yet, the Werewolf Packs are fragmented and dysfunctional. Local temporary alliances and truces occur between packs, but not since before the Great Dragon War have the Werewolves seen a form of mass unification.

-Werewolves originated from the pair of southern islands known as The Dark Isles. The Islands are not mapped, and no one knows how many Werewolf packs live on the Islands. Other races avoid the islands at all costs. There are numerous Werewolf packs that have migrated to the rest of Kearne, and they can now be found almost anywhere.

-While most Werewolves are able to shift from one form to another at will, there are some Werewolves who, through one reason or another, have lost control of their ability to shift and become stuck in their wolf-form. These Werewolves are known as the Lykos, or the Wolf-Cursed. Lykos are not any more unstable or violent than other Werewolves, but they are considered afflicted and are treated with a form of reverence and care by the rest of the tribe. While some allow their wolf nature to control them, others have learned to control their wilder natures and still function as members of the pack.

-Legend speak of a tribe of Werewolves from around the time of the Great Dragon War known as the Warwolves. They were even bigger, stronger, and fiercer than the rest of their race. They are known by the natural red markings in the fur on their muzzles and backs. Their Alpha, the Direwolf, is said to be the only one to be able to unite all the Werewolf Packs under a common cause. Other rumors state that the Warwolves exclusively served the Queen of the Nether during the Dragon Wars, while other rumors claim that they were actually created by the Dark Queen specifically to do her bidding.
