As you puts your pen torch in your pocket and tidy your hair in the mirror you check the time on your phone.
"Oh no, I'm late!"
Grabbing the hotel key and running out your room you race to the lifts, panicking. Bashing the down button repeatedly you check the time again before looking around for stairs. Suddenly the lift pings and you run in, pressing 'G' until the doors close.
Once on the ground floor you run through the lobby to the front of the hotel, where you see two coaches parked up. A small, fast moving queue of medical staff and volunteers are next to the second one, so you run to join the back. As you catch your breath someone on the coach bangs on the window. You look up to see Ella waving and indicating you sit next to her.
"I thought you were going to miss the coach then y/n!" Ella says, audible relief in her voice.
"So did I, I'm not sure Dr Azil would have been impressed if I had!"
It's race day at Silverstone and although you usually work as a nurse at the local hospital you signed up to work as part of the medical team for the Grand Prix weekend. The lead doctor on your ward, Dr Azil leads a team in the medical centre every year and encouraged you to put your name forward.
"How are you feeling about today? I remember the first time I worked in the medical centre, I was so nervous." Ella looks at you with concern.
"Honestly, I'm anxious about it. I thought I would still be dealing with sunstroke and fans in the pop up medical tents, not dealing with possible racing accidents."
"Maybe you will meet one of the handsome drivers y/n! Don't worry, I will look after you." She nudges you with a smile.
"Ever the professional Ells. If I meet any drivers they will be my patient, I won't be looking at them for a date."
After a short drive the coach pulls up at Silverstone and you walk with Ella down to the medical centre. The sun is beaming and although it's early in the day the atmosphere is already electric. As you enter the medical centre Dr Azil greets you.

"Ahh y/n, so glad you signed up to participate this weekend! It will be a good day having you on my team. Ella I think you are with Dr Campbell in bay 2."
You wave to Ella who goes off to find the doctor she is working with and then you turn back to Dr Azil.
"Thank you for encouraging me to do this, I'm grateful to be on your team."
He smiles, "I did have to pull some strings because usually the new recruits do first aid around the track. But I know I can trust you and I would rather have you working with me than a nurse I am unfamiliar with. Come on, I will show you around."
He shows you the bays, sitting area, kitchen and toilet before joining the other medical personnel to go through the plan of action.

After a quick cup of tea it's time for the Formula 3 race. There are a couple of screens set up around the medical centre to keep staff up to date with any accidents that happen on track, so you sit down with the others to watch.
"ITS LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO! Crawford gets a fantastic start from pole but here comes Leclerc into turn one, OH LECLERC TAKES THE LEAD! Crawfords fighting back though.."

Suddenly a car from further down the grid flies into the back of Crawford just before the second corner, causing him to crash into the side of Leclerc. Leclercs car flips and flies towards the barrier.
