We begin our trek through the sea of grain before us, more specifically on the pathway of the field where a lot of wandering traders travel on, to travel without issues. The fields seem to go on forever. It goes farther than I can see, to be honest. Besides a few homes here and there at this point, it is just farmland.
Me) Nanu I bet you wish you could still see, these fields look amazing.
Nanu) I HAVE seen them... Just not recently. There were a few times that I have seen them. The one that I remember the most was roughly a week before I went blind. That day my parents brought me into town and towards the edge of it. They wanted to show me these fields, during the summer they look much better than the rest of the year. These fields reflected the light of the setting summer sun perfectly and shone as if they were made of gold.
We both stop, Nanu just stands there smiling towards the fields. I see a tear roll down her cheek, and she continues walking forward. We walk in silence for a little while, I decide to ask her about it.
Me) Hey Nanu. Why were you crying while staring at the field a little bit ago?
Nanu) Oh that... It was nothing, this field just brought back great memories of my parents before they... Before they died... I do not know about you, but I was fond of my parents in a way that I do not know if you had with yours. They showed me the world and gave me everything I could ever need. Especially my siblings, when I was eight years old. A few months after the twins were born, my mother ended up dying. Unlike my father, I had the will to continue living after she died, my father's reason for living was her. After she died he ended up growing depressed and eventually died himself. I have had to raise my brother and sister since then. The only way I could do so at my age was to become a thief. And we continued to live in the same home our whole lives until you came along and gave those two hope. Hope for a better life than I was giving them. They love the new home and Xzyviuer, and overall they seem a lot happier. Well, that is enough rambling from me, sorry I just started and never stopped.
əƜ) Wow, SUCH a sob story, jeez everyone is so boring. Must everyone have some sort of issue that makes them who they are?
I just stand there all baffled, ignoring Em. we turn back forward and continue to walk down the dirt path. After about an hour or so I see what looks like smoke begin to rise in the distance.
Me) Nanu, do you see that? It looks like smoke.
She just turns and glares at me.
Me) Oh, sorry.
Nanu) Eh it is fine, just keep talking while we run so I can follow you.
I just say whatever comes to my mind as we run towards the smoke, dodging holes and such in the field along the way. We eventually get close enough that we can start to feel the heat coming from the flames.
Nanu) My goodness this thing is huge. Is there anybody around here? There has not been lightning or anything that could have started this.
I look around and do not see anyone, I continue to peer from left to right to see if I notice anything. But there is nothing besides the swaying of the wheat in the wind. Then suddenly out of the corner of my eye, I see a ball of maroon and golden-colored clothes next to the trees. I walk towards it, as I get closer I see that it is trembling and shaking. It's a person, I get closer and tap them on the shoulder. It looks like an elf girl, they jump at the touch and start yelling.
???) WAAAH!!!! I DIDN'T MEAN TO START THIS BIG FIRE! I WAS JUST TESTING MY INCENDIARY SHOTS FOR MY SLINGSHOTS AND IT GOT OUT OF MY CONTROL! I DIDN'T MEAN TO SET YOUR FIELD ON FIRE!
Me) This is not my field, we were just walking down the path.
They stop crying and wipe their eyes, looking up at me.
