Ch. 9 Regrets

I wake up with a killer headache from last night. Hoping it was just a nightmare I looks around. Akriel is still there, god, that actually happened? I decide to walk over to him and kick him awake. He sits up with a knife in hand, I glare down at him. He just looks up and grins at me letting out a little chuckle. He tried to fix his messy hair but it kept its shape and stuck out to the sides, but stayed smooth on the top. In a tired voice I say,

Me) You moved from the log you said you'd stay on.

He laughs, I stand there not showing any emotion, even though it is kind of funny. I continue talking after he is done.

Me) If you are as harmless as you say you are, then get up. With all of that armor you wear, I figured it'd take you longer to get ready, so I woke you up first.

His head turn to survey the surroundings, one again he lets
Out a chuckle.

Akriel) Yeah sure that is the reason, also it would take longer if I took them off when sleeping, but surprisingly it is comfortable, so I keep them on.

I cringe so hard he notices and looks concerned. Jeez they must be drenched in sweat, I just shake my head and go around and wake everyone else up and we start to towards the south again. We continue for about an week without any issues or inconveniences.

Em has stayed relativity quite beside her snappy annoying comments after someone says something. At the end seventh day we can finally see a town. I have never gone past Lyrell, this town is so large.

Me) What is this place?

Akriel) Ashre, also know as the city of prosperity, because of the life that you can make just by living there. Pretty impressive.

Lukeon) This is nothing compared to the elven kingdoms, but for humans it is pretty impressive, I'll give them that.

Even with that pompous response, his eyes are filled with interest and he looks excited to go in. Before we get close Ally and I put on the hoods of our cloaks. Just like Dexu and Lyrell there are guards surrounding the town, and presumably inside too with a town this populous. As soon as we get within feet of entering a guard stops us.

Guard) Who are you folk and what business do you have here?

Before anyone can say anything Akriel walks up to him.

Akriel) I am Akriel, son of Nova and Syrus Sonnenfeld, I am here on official Demi-Human extermination business. Now do you mind stepping out of the way.

Guard) Ha, really? Where's the proof that you are who you say you are?

For just a second Akriel's eyes go from a deep blue to a literally glowing violet. He slightly moves from his spot and then his eyes go back to blue.

Guard) What was that?

Akriel) Look behind you.

The guard and everyone else look behind him. All the other guards that were nearby are now all tied up and knocked out. Akriel has a smug smirk on his face. The guard stands totally dumbfounded.

Guard) You may enter, sorry for your inconvenience.

We all head into Ashre starting begins Akriel, eventually Ally steps up.

Ally) Is what you said true?

Akriel) Oh no, of course not. Just having fun scaring the hell out of that guard. Guard. Haven't hunted a demi-human since I was 5. And don't plan on doing so again.

Beastrix) You're one of the Sonnenfelds, what in the world are you trying to pull? I know who they are, and what they do!

Akriel) Please don't use my last name I'm not necessarily fond of it. For obvious reason.
