SHE had been a footloose and fancy-free woman. Although many guys are head over heels in love with her, she just couldn’t give herself a chance. She once said that love has no space in her heart and she is busy with her own life. However, if truth be told, she is attracted to someone she always sees on the restaurant but she told no one yet except her fragile heart. Her friend, Lei, always tells her to find for a date and that comment is almost close to home but she would just smile because she want her life to be that way.
“Hey Aya! It is raining cats and dogs but look there are still lot of customers. I hate this life,” her friend shouted. Lei looked at Aya with a confused face. “You ‘re making castles in the air?. A penny for your thought”, Lei muttered. A sudden realization awakened Aya that she is on duty so she smiled.
Aya is working in the Resto for nearly three years. The work was hard but she couldn’t do a thing because she must work in order to live. At age 10, her Papa and Mama together with another couple died because of an accident and they left nothing to her except their small house in which she and Lei live now. And because she was too young to be alone, she never thanked her lucky stars because she thought she could be happier when she too was on the train when her parents met the accident. Her situation then was can of worms and sometimes she thought that her past is just a figment of her imagination. So, she hated to open old wounds.
“I’m tired. I better sleep early so that I’ll have a long rest.” Lei said when they reached home. “Well, it’s up to you. I have to finish the story first before going to bed. I promised my manager to submit it the coming week,” Aya answered with a sigh. “Ok. I don’t know what to say. I’m speechless. But can you still manage your works? Look! You work on a Resto all day long and you still work as a writer in the night. Let your hair down.”
“Yeah it’s hard but I have to do them through thick and thin. I don’t have someone to depend on except you. And writing has long been my life and soul. I don’t care if I’m only working on a local magazine. I just want to share my talent and at the same time earn a small amount.”
“Fine. Accepted! But you may think again. Hmm..But you’re right. Who knows someone is already falling in love with your love stories,” Lei said, and then they both laughed. “Oh, I remember. I know you have a mind of your own. But, instead of using your pseudonym Miss X, why don’t you reveal yourself? You will be honored if that’s the case.”
“Oh no. I don’t like. I want to remain unknown. I think that’s better,” Aya said pouring her heart out as she sat in front of her table. Lei didn’t say a word anymore and Aya started on her new story.
“GOODMorning Sir. Here is the copy of the HEART STRIKES magazine”, said a man on a low voice as he handed the magazine to a tall, handsome and young man. “Thank You”, answered the young man and he immediate opened the page of Miss X’s story. He has a soft spot on reading Miss X’s stories. SOMEDAY YOU'LL KNOW- that’s the title of the story. The title sent a shiver down his spine.
He is the owner of the biggest company in the country. As a multi-millionaire, he is very powerful and he could get all he wants. But he never believes in the ability of money. “If money can buy anything, then the Doctors could have been able to bring my Daddy and Mommy back to life,” he always said. His parents died in a train accident when he was 18- that was a year before his graduation in College. When that happened, he had a hard and long time licking his wounds. He had to manage their company with the help of his Uncle Marco- his Daddy’s best friend. At his age, 33, he has everything already except for someone who would love him until the end and he is on the process of searching. There is a big array of choices for girls, rich and beautiful girls but he doesn’t like any of them. He wants simple and hardworking woman just like the girl on the Resto but he doesn’t even know her name. He took a fancy to that girl when he saw her serving a drink one day. He tried to observe her every time he visited that Resto- a very memorable Resto because it is there where his Daddy met his Mommy.
