amber raised an eyebrow at destiny, who was currently drunkenly entertaining a crowd. she had formed a small one over time and they somehow found her hilarious.

amber somehow ended up with a taco in one hand and a cup of god knows what in her other.

she sighed and started to wander off by herself. she didn't even know why she came to this party or why she asked destiny to come with her.

she just felt lost and lonely and like she needed to get peoples attention in some way, but at the same time that's not what it was all about.

if she was seeking attention she wouldn't have come to a party. deep down inside she was hoping to replace the feelings that chris made her feel. to see if anyone else could ever replicate the strong emotions that he brought out of her.

she sighed and leaned her head against the wall, pulling out her phone and calling people.

"nick?" she asked quietly, sniffling as the facetime call connected "amber babe, where are you?" nick asked, completely ignoring the fact that neither of them greeted each other.

"i'm at mason's house with destiny can you come pick us up? just you and matt?" she asked and nick frowned, his camera showing that he was walking to another room in his house.

"what about chris?" nick asked then shook his head "nevermind. i can't guarantee that we can leave without him but we'll be there soon wait out front ok?" he instructed and amber nodded, sleepily rubbing her eyes.

she went to go find destiny who was right where she left her. she grabbed her wrist and pulled her to the front of the house and out the front door, ignoring her best friends complaints.

after a few minutes of waiting destiny ended up falling asleep on amber's shoulder, and a few seconds later amber fell asleep too.

nick sighed when they pulled up and he spotted the two girls hunched over sleeping "okay chris now i'm glad you didn't listen to me cause matt can't carry them both."

"what the hell? why aren't you gonna help?" matt frowned, turning around to look at nick who gave him a look "me and drunk people don't mix, thank you."

chris laughed and got out of the car, kneeling down in front of the two girls and shaking them awake "c'mon guys you're coming to our house." chris told them and they both sleepily nodded, getting up and getting into the car.

"see look at that nick. chris is smart enough to use critical thinking skills-" matt started and chris rolled his eyes as he made sure that destiny and amber were buckled.

"critical thinking my ass and kiss it. it's not fucking rocket science to know how to wake someone up." nick scoffed, crossing his arms as him and matt glared at each other through the rearview mirror.

chris rolled his eyes at them again and sighed "can we just go home? it's gonna be hard getting them inside quietly."

matt nodded, and the drive home was pretty silent except for destiny's occasional complaint that her stomach hurt.

once they arrived to the triplets house they all went their separate ways. nick went to his room and immediately fell asleep, matt and destiny went to his room and started a movie and amber sat on the couch while chris stared at her disapprovingly.

"ambi, why would you do that? this isn't like you." he asked and she scoffed, rolling her eyes. "it is now." she replied and chris didn't bother to keep the conversation going.

he grabbed her hand and lead her to his room, turning the light on and closing his room door. "why didn't you call me?" he asked, sitting down on his bed and she shrugged, laying down next to him.

"nick was the first person i thought of" he looked over at her and she swore she saw a hurt look flash across his features.

"you know you're still my favorite" she smiled lazily and he smiled back, scooting to the top of his bed and laying on his back.

amber scooted up next to him, resting her head on his chest. she smiled as he started to play with her hair, and she tried not to think about the fact that they'd probably never be this close again.

for now she just wanted to live in the moment and forget that chris wasn't her boyfriend and that he never would be. amber was convinced that she was always made to just be one more bump in the road for evelyn and chris' relationship to grow into something strong and beautiful.

however, while she was still in this moment, in his arms, she'd cherish it forever and pretend that in another universe they were meant to be, and they eventually would be.
