They were staring at me like a dog waiting for a treat. It was safe to say they were very eager to hear what I had to say. I'd be eager too.
"The day after the confrontation with Sam, I felt like shit. I felt like dirt. But, I ended up figuring out that I don't need negativity right now. I'd get over it. Move on."
"Ok, but you clearly didn't." Me and Natalie both looked at him with our no-duh-stupid look.
"Let her finish you idiot."
"Well, the next day at school, news had obviously gotten out somehow. Girls whispered, and guys looked at me like a piece of meat. It was gross."
"How did the news spread that fast?"
"I don't know. Sam is an asshole, he probably made up an awful lie about me."
"He said you gave him chlamydia." Nate spoke in a soft voice, as if that would make this any better.
"Are you kidding! I was a virgin!"
"Some people are believing it." I hate Sam so much. Who says that?
"I'm going to kick his ass if I see him here again." Natalie is even more pissed than I am.
"He comes here all the time Nat, you can't just beat him up. Your arms are like twigs." He does have a point.
"Well you're not going to let him over here anymore. I won't have it." Nate looked horrified by his sisters words. Not going to lie, I'm shocked too.
"Natalie that's insane! He's my friend and he can come here whether he's welcome by you or not!"
"Your so called friend dumped my best friend on her ass for some game! And look what it did to her! She's half dead for Christ's sake!" Nate's eyes softened a bit when Natalie said that. But Natalie instantly regretted it.
"Elena I didn't mean that. I'm sorry."
"No you're right. Look at me, I'm a walking skeleton. I am practically dead." Nate glanced over at me and I couldn't look at him, but I could tell he was giving me the once over.
"I'll tell him he can't be here when she's here." Nate was reluctant with his answer, but Natalie was elated about it.
"Well now that we've come to an understanding, I'm going to grab food. I'll be back soon." She say sauntered out of the house and left me and Nate in an awkward silence.
"You don't have to do this you know." I feel guilty about the whole thing.
"I don't care. You shouldn't either." He's right. I should be happy about this, but I'm not.
"But he's your best friend. You shouldn't have to tell him to stay away."
"Elena, it's fine. Really. I don't care." he seemed almost annoyed now.
"It's not fine Nate. I'll just deal with it if he's here. I don't mind."
"Elena I'm trying to help you! Why is everything a fight with you?" Why is he so angry? I'm trying to help him!
"Why are you yelling at me?"
"Because, you're so god damn stubborn! I'm trying to help you get better and you're just pushing my help out the window!" Oh he wants to fight? We can fight.
"Why are you even trying to help me? You've never bothered to ask what was wrong this whole time! You've said it before, you don't care about me!" I stood up and looked him in the eye.
"Well I'm trying to help now! Shouldn't that be what matters?" Now he's a few inches from me, and I realize how small I feel around him. His 6'3 frame towers my 5'6 one.
