Chapter 1:

I sat on my ledge looking down at all of the villages. Trees. Village 1, with it's mansions, and skyscrapers. Village 2, with it's Townhouses and job buildings. Village 3, with it's small houses and apartments. Village 4, with it's sweatshops, make-shift houses, and little job places. Village 5, well, it has land. I lived in Village 4.

I was poor, but my family and I made a living no matter what. I did singing for my job. Specific jobs were set by village. I always had Ashten there, helping me through everything. We were going to get married, and have children.

Ashten just had come from work in Village 3. He earned more money than me, but he treated me like we were the same. Ashten looked so handsome with his brown-golden hair and green-hazel eyes. "Nia, whats with the staring?" Ashten asked with his cute grin. I melted. He grabbed my hand and pulled me closer to him. I rested on his shoulder. "Ash," I said. "Hm?" "What'll happen to us?" I asked. "Nothing, were nineteen, nobody would suspect a thing. Were married." he responded. I laughed. "Wheres little Titen, and Ashania?" I joked. He looked at the villages seriously. "Do you want to?" he asked me. "Want to what?" I smiled. "Get married, have kids, live a happy life?" "Of course, Ash, I mean, it's what we've wanted." I answered. I felt him stiffen. I got off of his shoulder, and looked at him. He doesn't want to get married? I coughed in spite of the cold air. "I'll be going, Garyel might tell on me to mother." I said and hopped off the ledge. I left him as tears escaped from my eyes.

"Titania! Where were you? Are you hurt? We were worried sick. Your father... Your father... he called." my mother yelled. My father left us for some other lady in Village 2. I walked in through the door and ignored my mothers words. I sat on the dusty couch and turned on the run-down T.V. I could see him. Eddie Limiya, heir to our villages. He sat like a statue next to his father, leader, and king of our villages. "Ladies, and gentlemen," the T.V. buzzed, "Eddie Limiya is in search of a wife! Were holding a competiton. We'd like you to submit your picture to your nearest post-office, and Eddie Limiya will pick 3 girls. If you are not selected, you will earn $500 for just entering. Let the games begin." "Limiya wants a wife. Sucks to be married to an uptight guy," I said to myself. I walked past Garyel, fan-girling over Eddie. I went to my room. Knock! Knock! "Honey, I want you to join along with Garyel. If none of you get accepted, we'll earn enough money to move into Village 3." My mother's voice seeped through the little crack of my bedroom door. "I don't want to join a competition knowing that either me or Garyel could be accepted and we would have to be forced to live with a guy who doesn't have any facial expressions," I responded. "Think about the money," my mom said tempting me. "I'll join, if only Ash-." I stopped speaking. "Honey, you will?!" my mom asked. "I don't know, I'll think about it," I said.

My mom quit bugging me and I just laid in my empty room. I heard rocks slaming against my window. Ashten was here. I opened my window and climbed down my vine made ladder. I felt sinister during the night. We went to the ledge. "Listen Nia. I don't want this anymore for us. I can't keep doing this. I can't have you as a burden on me. You're close to poverty, and I'm going to move to Village 2. My mother got me a wife-" I stopped him. "Shut up, please." I slapped him on the face. I could see his temper rising. "You called me poor, and I thought that was enough, but then you broke my heart and hurt my feelings. What has come over you?" I asked. "Titania! Don't ever touch me again!" He actually said my name. I had tears in my eyes but I didn't notice. "Ashten Mureli, I forbid you from talking to me ever again!" It was the first time I said his name. "Titania, I DON'T love you. I never did." he said. That just let the cap loose. I burst into tears. "SHUT UP!" I yelled. He finally heard me, he just did. He pusshed my hair over to the side and kissed my head, then neck, then lips. That just made matters worse. He was leaving me. He never loved me. "Ashten!!!" I heard someone scream. Some woman with obvious curves and a beautiful face. "Jess, I thought I told you to wait," Ashten said doing the same grin he used to do to me. "You did but I couldn't help it. I was worried," said Jess. "Who is this?" I asked Ashten. "My wife," he responded without regret, remorse, anything. They happily kissed passionatly right in front of me. "Well I'm done here," I said smiling with tears still in my eyes. I wave them bye and that was the end of it. I'm going to marry Eddie, I guess.
