Jamie had always had a crush on Y/N, they shared mutual friends and whenever Jamie found out that Y/N was joining their friends for a get together he always made an appearance just so he could see her. The only issue was that Y/N was actually in a relationship with her long term boyfriend, the couple were very good together and argued very rarely it was almost if the pair were made for each other— Y/N's boyfriend got on very well with her friends and she got on well with his friends, he was always very nice to his girlfriend's friends especially Jamie and that angered him,

This only angered Jamie because there wasn't one thing he disliked about his crush's boyfriend it was annoying that he couldn't find fault in the guy. Y/N's boyfriend was a simple guy he led a simple life and that was something Y/N was attracted to in the first place— she didn't like the fast life all the attention and stuff that came along with Jamie's life but it wasn't too much of an issue Y/N just tended to steer clear of Jamie when it came to the two of them hanging out on their own she always saw him with their mutual friends which hurt Jamie quite a bit but he would never admit it to Y/N.

One specific summer night Y/N's friend had convinced her to come on a night out for an evening meal to try and cheer her up— she had recently split with her boyfriend due to then just wanting very different things and Y/N was distraught this sudden realisation from her now ex boyfriend had just came out of nowhere. She spent three years with this guy and now suddenly she was all on her own.

"We'll just have some food and a few drinks, we can leave after this." Y/N's friend told her

"I'm just not feeling a big night out. I just miss him so much I miss the companionship mainly." Y/N sighed as she sipped her alcoholic drink of choice

"Yeah I know you do but it'll be fine you'll get over this." Her friend smile and Y/N just nodded her head, as the night went on Y/N was slowly starting to enjoy herself over the couple of hours she and her close friend had been in the restaurant
"Oh my god. Look." Y/N's friend pointed to the side of the restaurant and when Y/N followed her friends subtly pointed finger the pair saw Jamie stood in the corner with a girl with short black hair, wearing a white strappy dress and a bright smile plastered on her face that matched Jamie's the two were obviously enjoying each other's company a lot.

"He looks like he's having a nice time." Y/N said softly as she sipped her drink
"Do you know who she is?"

"No. Never seen her before." Y/N's friend said as he also looked at Jamie in slight shock, it was no secret that Jamie liked Y/N he didn't make it too obvious but all of their mutual friends knew something about it
"Come on let's go it's getting late." Y/N's friend said as the pair paid the bill and started to walk out of the restaurant together,

In order for them to leave they had to walk past Jamie and his date which wasn't an issue for Y/N but she just wanted to go home she was tired and didn't really want to stand and make small talk with Jamie and his date.

"I'm just going to call a taxi I'll be back in a second." Y/N's friend said as he walked outside leaving Y/N stood by herself quite close to where Jamie was stood. Y/N got out her phone briefly to check the time and when she looked up very quickly she looked around the room and made eye contact with Jamie himself who was surprised to see Y/N— he almost had a look on his face as if he had been caught out doing something he shouldn't.

Y/N smiled briefly at him before looking away almost hoping inside that he wouldn't approach her because she just wanted to go home but of course that wasn't the case and he walked over towards Y/N with his date following behind him.

"Hey love." Jamie said and Y/N smiled

"Hi Jamie." She replied

"You here with Matt?" He asked

"No I'm here with Reese we came out for a meal." She replied,

"Um Y/N this is Rosie." Jamie introduced the two girls, Y/N smiled politely to the tall girl

"Nice to meet you Rosie." She said

"And you Y/N, I've heard so much about you." She said happily,
"We should hang out some time so I can get to know you a lot better seeing as you're Jamie's best friend." Rosie continued at this point Y/N forced out a fake smile that Jamie knew all too well

"That would be nice. How long have you two been seeing each other?" Y/N asked

"About two months now we've had a few dates now." Rosie continued, Y/N looked at Jamie briefly because she had never been told by anyone about this girl he had been seeing she was pretty sure no one knew about this knew thing he had going on.

"Well you're definitely suited for each other you look nice together."

"Thank you! Jamie has told me about you and your boyfriend we should go on a double date sometime." Rosie said, Y/N felt bad for the girl because she seemed lovely and kind she was just trying to get to know her

"Oh well that's going to be difficult Matt and I split up around three months ago." Y/N admitted with a little laugh, Jamie instantly looked up at Y/N shock since he never knew about her and Matt breaking up

"Why didn't you tell me?" Jamie asked Y/N

"Why didn't you tell me about this? It works both ways Jamie." Y/N said to him which took both Rosie and Jamie by a slight surprise
"I should be going anyway. It was nice meeting you Rosie." Y/N said as she started to walk away

"I'll give you a call tonight love." Jamie said to Y/N and she shook he head,

"It's probably best if you don't. Have a good night Jamie." Y/N said as she stepped outside of the restaurant and joined Reece in the taxi so she could go home all on her own yet again.
