(CW- death and gore) not intense detail but present
Jamie Belle Edwards was 23 and freshly new to the world of Brooklyn, so far it wasn't bad, but it wasn't what she expected either, but she couldn't help but love how the air always felt crisp. That when the morning air hit her nostrils it filled her with feelings of autumn. There was a time she could've told you how she wanted her life to be, hell she could've given a step by step plan, she had goals, a future. But in all reality, having dreams felt like a child's game. As a kid she grew up wanting to be a solider, pay her debt, doing what she thought was right growing up in the north she was used to the rain, whenever there was a storm, not a bad one, but bad enough to where her town shut off it's power for safety. She found herself bored out of her small child's mind as she would slap on some thick clothes and pretend she was at boot camp, army crawling in the mud, sprinting back and fourth in the rain for hours, wanting to fight for the good guys. Feeling like she actually had a purpose in life. When she got older She realized life was never that black and white. Soldiers obey orders from people with agendas and those agendas change. By the time She was 22, and on her own. No family, no friends left alone in the corrupt world we now live in. Freshly out of the army, She was trying to find her place in the world and some how ended up in Brooklyn.
"Can I get a large, sweetened iced coffee?" Jamie asked as she glanced up momentarily from looking at her wallet noticing the fake leather chipping around the edges adding a discoloration to go from a prominent black to a ugly cream. The cashier had bright red hair then faded into blonde at the bottom.
"Of course, can I get a name?"
"Jay" smiling brightly at her, which she didn't do that often but the cashier gave Jamie a sense of comfort. Sometimes you meet a stranger maybe for only a hot second but you don't feel judged by them you can tell that they are good people. Glancing down at her name tag. "Nat". She was one of those people.
After paying, Jamie sat amongst the table minding her own tapping her fingers in a repeated motion, growing anxious at the sounds of the door opening and closing, and the long dripping noise the espresso machine was making, along with the small talk that was being had with the two customers seated at a table on the other side of the room. It looked like people just would come in to grab some coffee and take it to go, Jay hated to think of life that way, that everyone was always on the go no one just sat down anymore and enjoyed life in the moment, it's why she found herself incredibly lonely, a lot..... Glancing around realizing this coffee shop was really homie. There was couches hugging the walls. To the left was a display case for all types of baked goods. To the right some picture hanging over the couch of that wall. She couldn't see the people but it look like family pictures and next to a few was another sign.

SamStinks1234After letting out a soft chuckle and the realization hit her this might be a calm spot to figure some stuff out.
Grabbing her old computer from the ashy grey bag she had settled on her shoulder, quickly logging on their Wi-Fi. Looking up" good jobs for ex military." "
Than just "jobs," " jobs in Brooklyn." "Places hiring in Brooklyn." Everything was just coming up as ads or "how to make quick money from home". She sighed out of mere frustration and fear she didn't know how long her state checks would last."Here you go love." Nat said as she set a iced coffee right in front of her, condensation already dripping from the blast of the heater on high.
"Oh, thank you". Being surprised she brought her drink directly to the table instead of calling her name. But as she looked around She remembers no one lives in the moment anymore, it was pretty dead in there, shuffling her fingers through her long brown hair before picking it up for a sip.
