The massacre

I remember it... I remember it all... the blood, the screams, the smell of burning flesh, the piercing pain... And the fear, the fear that I felt that day was incomparable to any I have felt before and I remember it clearly

no one saw it coming, the chaos started almost instantly... just a small mistake from a child doomed an entire village to die.

"Mommy look! the lizard knights are here! they're so cool!" A small turtle dragged his mother over to a crowded street

"sweetie! calm down! they'll be marching through here for the next couple of hours there is no need to rush!" the little turtle's mother gave her son a pat on the head

"but I want to see commander Ryald! if we don't go now we'll miss him!" the child tried to look over the crowd

"It's him! mom! it's commander Ryal-" the child's innocent voice came to a stop as he saw the bodies of fallen lizard knights being carried on stretchers, suddenly a lizard child bursts from the crowd and ran next to a stretcher

"Daddy!? daddy, please don't be dead!" the kid cried in despair, this child was a red-scaled lizard named Tobias, he had always wanted to be just like his father, a lizard soldier fighting for the kingdom of Icarus!

suddenly commander Ryal unsheathed his sword and slashed Tobias clean in half

"decorating the body of a fallen soldier with your touch is a crime punishable by death!" commander Ryald re-sheathed his blade

"that was his father you murderer!" another child from the crowd throws a rock

"...If one of you don't tell me who just threw that rock we will treat it as if the entire village had thrown that rock" commander Ryald shouted

"And allow you to murder another innocent? to hell with that!" an old man shouted while waving his fist

"5" Ryald started counting down as the people in the crowd started shouting at him

"4... 3... 2... 1... alright, burn everything down! kill them all!" commander Ryald ordered his troops

the first torch was thrown at a nearby thatch house that was owned by farmer Louie, and the fire spread to other houses as the lizard knights started their massacre

people were sliced, stabbed, beat, and burned to death. my heart raced as me and my mother ran, we jumped over the corpses of people I had just spoken to this morning. reaching our house we see it on fire, inside would be my father and younger sister. my mother went into hysterics and ran into the burning house, I saw lizard knights coming close so I hid as fast as I could

one of them was holding some sort of pot of black liquid, only when he threw it into my house I immediately knew what it was. it was a pot of Exder Oil, Exder Oil is extremely explosive when it comes in contact with fire

my parents, sister, house, and friends were all gone in an instant and all I could do was hide under a pile of stone and wallow in despair

after a couple of minutes I decided that I needed to run, and run as far away as I could. I snuck through the village, before I could run I needed supplies, the perfect place would be grandpa Kar's blacksmith, it was in his basement so the lizard knights wouldn't have found it and it was made of stone so it wouldn't burn 

along the way to grandpa Kar's smithy I saw many horrors such as lizard knights having "fun" with both alive and dead villagers, the alive ones were disfigured and mangled and would die from their injuries soon, but they did not care, no matter how old or young as long as they had an intact lower body they would have "fun". all I could do was hold in my puke and continue to crawl

making it to the smithy I noticed that the top half was still on fire... this was gonna hurt, but there were a couple of buckets of water down there so I should be fine... Right? jumping through the flames I felt an eminence burning pain, diving down the stairs my eyes locked on the bucket of water, I ran to it and splashed it over me instantly feeling relief

I spared no time, I grabbed a Halibard, dagger, map, and a spare bag of food, drink, and coin. just as I was about to leave I saw a shine, inspecting it I saw a blue orb with an eye-shaped metal frame, deciding that it was important I grabbed it and fled

noticing lizard knights I hid

"HEY, BOSS! WE FOUND IT!" one of them shouted while running into grandpa Kar's smithy

seconds later Commander Ryald arrived with a smug look on his face

"that kid gave us a really good excuse for getting this from you huh, gramps?' he threw down grampa Kar from his shoulder, his legs were nowhere to be seen

"you bastards... you murder my entire village for an artifact?" grampa Kar shouted in rage

"an artifact that can turn a man into a god with enough time? then yes!" he stomped on grampa Kar

"um sir..." a lizard knight walks out from the smithy

"did you find it?" Ryald said with a look of greed

"about that... along with some other weapons the eye of Zeus is missing" when he said this gramps face lit with glee

in anger Ryald threw gramps through a house and started transforming, his green scaled body turned black, his yellow eyes turned dark red, and long brown horns sprouted from his head

"Ryald you bastard! you formed a pact with a demon! this will be the biggest mistake you will ever make!" grampa Kar yelled before Ryald punched a clean hole through gramps's stomach 

"shut it you pathetic turtle" he muttered as Kar's life came to an end

"no..." I gasped before running

"I still don't know why I took the blue eye thingy but it seemed to anger Ryald and bring extreme glee to gramps so I guess it was a win" I readjusted the pendent/eye as I watched the stars
