The sound of an alarm jolted me out of my sleep. I looked over at Austin who was reaching for his phone in the dark room as I did the same. "Alright, who did this?" I asked. "Me, it's me. I forgot to turn it off last night. I'm sorry." Austin said still half asleep. "What time even is it?" I asked. "7:30." He said. I groaned, stretching my arms into the air and slamming my face down in the pillow. "Still. Tired." I mumbled into the pillow.
"Maybe we could just stay up anyways and go get breakfast and walk around the city?" Austin asked. I could tell he was facing me because of how close his voice was to me, but all I was looking at was the darkness of the pillowcase my face was buried in. "This was a plan wasnt it?" I asked. He grabbed me and flipped me over. "Maybe so." He said. "This is unfair. Quit." I yelled. "I just know you always like to sleep in, but we're finally here and I don't want to waste time." He said. "Well you almost sent me packing last night so clearly you weren't that worried." I said, half of me was joking but the other half was still kinda mad on the inside about it. I knew i'd get over it but for now, it was something I could hold over his head, considering I didn't actually do anything wrong.
"Hey. I apologized." He said. "I know you did." I said, standing up from the bed and walking to the bathroom. I brushed my teeth, and then jumped in the shower. As I was rinsing out my conditioner I heard the bathroom door open. "I'm coming in." Austin said. "Okay." I said back.
I finished my shower and stuck my hand out the door of the shower and waved it around. "Can you hand me my towel?" I asked. "Mhm." He said. I felt the fuzzy material in my hand a few seconds later and I pulled it in to cover my body. I pushed open the door when I was done and stepped out. Austin eyed me, "Okay calm down calm down. Nothing you've never seen before." I said. "But it's something I haven't seen in so long." He said. "I wonder why that is?" I asked. "Why?" He asked. "I don't know. We haven't done much of anything lately since the accident." I said. "I know, speaking of. How are you feeling?" He asked. "I'm okay. Just tired all the time. Nothing hurts anymore." I said. "That's good. I just don't want you to do overdo it while you're here." He said, rubbing his hands down my sides as he pulled me into his chest. He rubbed my back, "Austin I'm getting you wet." I said. "Oh really?" He asked. I pulled back and smacked his arm. "Stop! Nasty." I said, laughing. He flashed his bright white smile at me, and followed me out to the bathroom. "Okay which outfit?" I asked.
I held up two outfit options and he stared at them. I watched as his eyes switched back and forth. He finally lifted a finger "That one." He said pointing to the outfit in my left hand. I nodded and laid it across the bed and put the other one back in my suitcase. I decided to do my hair and makeup before I got fully dressed so I went to the bathroom and camped out in there until I was done. I walked back out and Austin was looking out the window of the hotel room, on the phone. I grabbed my outfit and went back to the bathroom to put it on.
When I walked back out Austin was off the phone. "Do we still like this?" I asked looking in the full length mirror in the bedroom. "Yeah!" He said enthusiastically. We left the hotel and hailed a cab. We slid into the backseat as it came to a screeching halt. "Where to?" The driver asked. Before I could even say anything, Austin spoke. Giving the exact address to some place, I looked at him. "You'll find out." He said. I smiled and grabbed his hand. I looked out at the city, there was a light sprinkle falling, making a layer of moisture in the air of the entire city.
As we zoomed through the city, my mind raced thinking about all the possible places we could be going right now. We arrived at a building and I looked around. "What is this?" I asked. "Just come on." He said. He took my hand and led me through the lobby and to the elevator. When the gold doors parted we stepped in, and be pressed a button on the wall. Thirteen. "Austin I'm nervous." I said, he looked over and smiled at me. "Stop why?" He asked. "Surprises make me nervous. I don't know why." I said. "You won't be nervous when you see it." He said. We walked out when the doors opened and I looked around. We walked up to a door, after walking the halls. He used a key and pushed open the door, he held the door open as I walked inside. I took a look around at the empty apartment. "So, This is the only empty apartment in this building which just so happens to be the same building Sarah lives in. I know you've been saying you wanted to move here eventually, and I was thinking this would be the perfect place for you. Just like a safe space and you could be in the same building as Sarah so you could see her whenever." He said. I smiled, "It a beautiful, Austin What the heck?" I said, in awe of this place.
