Faith Around the Hoop

Chapter 12

"ANO?! ANO SABI MO?!" I was with Stacey and I told her something she couldn't believe. What's not believable with what I said?

"Stacey, 'wag ka nga sumigaw." Saway ko naman dahil baka may makarinig sa'min. I didn't want my plan to be broadcasted to other people. Baka makarating pa kay Mateo. Well as if naman kilala ako ng fans niya.

"Mahal mo na?" She asked.

"No other questions." I said, not giving her a proper answer. I told her I was going to say 'yes' to Mateo, hindi pa ba sapat na sagot 'yon. I was wearing the necklace he gave me, I hid it first so he wouldn't see it muna, baka ma-distract lang siya. I'll just show it to him after the game. 

"Ano naman plano mo?"

"You'll just see it later." I said. But honestly, I didn't even had a plan. Let's just see the flow of them game.

We were at our seats. We were beside Maya and Mateo's parents. I finally met his dad without him introducing me! Buti nalang nandoon si tita Scarlet. He was nice, but he was like Mateo, he didn't talk that much. When the team went out for their warm up, I could sense Mateo looking for us. When our eyes finally met, he waved and smiled at us which made me chuckle.

Their game was tough. Super lapit lang ng scores nila. Hindi naman ako player, but kinakabahan ako for them. Todo cheer naman kami for DLSU. Mukhang yari ako sa alma matter ko nito. 

"Let's go, Mateo!" I cheered for him, over and over again. I think I forgot that my cousin is also in his team.

During half time, I heard people around us talking.

'Siya ba 'yung kasama ni Capt. noong valentine's?' 

'Huy ang ganda naman niya, jowa ba ni capt?'

'Pare, hingin mo number ni ms.beautiful.'

'Swerte naman ni ate girl.'

I felt conscious. But totoo naman sinabi nila, I'm really lucky with Mateo. I think they just recognized me from his post. 

"Pinag-uusapan ka." Bulong ni Stacey sa'kin. "Henge daw number mo!"

"Hayaan mo sila." 

The game continued. Lagi silang magkadikit score. Mateo didn't get any rest, lagi siyang naglalaro. Eventually the buzzer went off. 

"They won!" I shouted happily. I saw Mateo looking for me, he looked really tired. I excused myself and tried to go near them. There were so much people! He eventually saw me trying to get near him and excused himself. "Niko! Congrats!" I shouted once he was in front of me.

I hugged him and he rested his head on my shoulder. I was really small though compared to him, baka nahihirapan sa pwesto niya. "You did well, bb." I told him and he chuckled.
