I have a lot of promotion for Downton Abbey coming up as the new and final series is about to air, which means I'm mainly back in the UK for this. It's interview after interview, photo shoots, TV appearances - everything that marks the end of a show that helped open the door to even better opportunities.
Megan accompanies me on the day of the screening and things have been more amicable between us.Chris is currently in the process of preparing to film a new movie called 'Ghosted', so filming will start early next year. He's going to be working with Scarlett again so that'll be nice to see them together once more.
"You seen your parents?" Chris asks as we speak on the phone later on. I've stayed up later so I could speak to him, but I know I'm going to be feeling dead for my flight back to Boston tomorrow.
"Yeah".
"Not go well?"
I wince, "not really, I mean it's like they still think we're having an affair. I can't believe Lucy told them about it all".
"Hey, it's alright, they may just need to take time to come around". He says
"I said that to myself when they disagreed with my acting career, nothing's changed". I sigh, "I miss you".
"Miss you most Evermore, only one more day and you'll be home again". I hear the warmth but also the yearning in his voice. I hate it just as much as he does when we're apart. I have no idea what I'll do when he starts up filming again. Probably sit and cry rocking back and forth in a corner.
So far everything has been bliss. We take Dodger on walks along the hiking trails near the house, sometimes if we're both home I'll wake up to find I've been made breakfast. The other week Chris sent me flowers when he was away just because he missed me. We've even had the discussion of finally selling my home that's just sitting empty over in LA. I've become so used to this place that the thought of even going back for one night doesn't sound appealing at all.
I've been welcomed into the family so much that now I really feel like I'm part of them.
Now I realise I'm sobbing down the phone to Chris.
"Hey, c'mon, it's one more day, ok?" He calms me, "You looking to make me cry? Because I will".
"Don't!" I half laugh, half sob. "Because that'll make me even more upset".
He chuckles, "I won't, promise. When you get home then I'll show you just how much I missed ya". He now tells me mischievously.
"Do I need to know what you've got in store".
"That's for me to know and you to find out Evermore".

At the request of his niece and nephews (and also Scott), we're throwing a family Halloween party this year.
Chris has chosen Crocodile Dundee and holy shit, it's a good job I'm not in costume yet as I probably would've passed out by now.
"Why won't you just show me". He calls through the bathroom door where I'm pulling myself into the costume.
"Because it's gonna be the highlight of everyone's evening".
"You're not in there gluing a Lloyd Hansen stache to your face are you?!"
"What?! No!" I call and chuckle to myself as I make the finishing touches. "Although I'm sure I'd pull it off".
I hear him chuckle. "C'mon Evermore! Let me see! Is it something I'm gonna wanna rip from you straight away?" He asks, all the possibilities of something like a sexy devil or something running through his mind.
"Oh you're gonna love it". I grin and then throw the door open. "Ta da!"
He erupts into laughter, clutching his chest at the sight of me in full Buzz Lightyear/Mrs Nesbitt mode. I'm carrying a false arm as well. "Now that? That's pretty inspired". He goes to kiss me but the helmet stops him. "Where the hell did you even get this?"
"I had to make the hat and false arm obviously" I smirk, and he now is chuckling at the apron. "I mean, you're gonna have to help me out of it later anyway"
"Is it really bad that this is kinda turning me on?" He stares me up and down again, biting one of his fingers as it's clear that he's already thinking about destroying the costume and just having me go in my underwear.
"If it does then we're gonna need to get you some help". I say and shift past him, smacking his arse with the fake Buzz arm. "Come on then, let's go get this party started".
Scott and his boyfriend are dressed as the twins from The Shining, Lisa and Chris's sisters are dressed as the Sanderson Sisters, the kids have all got pretty cute outfits on in keeping with the theme. Everyone looks pretty great.
And then they all erupt into laughter as they see me follow Chris into the room.
"I totally should've thought about this, wait is Chris meant to be some kinda sexy Woody?" Scott asks, "Ok, that sounded incredibly wrong!"
"He's meant to be Crocodile Dundee" I smirk, "But we can go with your suggestion".
I'm then attacked by the kids who have been out trick or treating and are hyped up on sugar. I love them, things like this are always good fun. For Scott's birthday we ended up hiring a bouncy castle and foam machine.
It did not end well for Lisa's garden, and that's all I'll say.
Chris passes me a beer and I take a grateful swig, looking around as the kids play with Dodger, people are laughing and chatting with one another.
I know that this year will end on a high when some of it has been so low, and the next one looks set to be even better.
Out with the old, and in with the new.
