The first night

Gloria's POV

I'll be real with you for a sec, Marnie walking in on me with my bathrobe on was the best thing that had ever happened to me. Firstly I got confirmation of her sexual orientation, secondly I managed to kinda flirt with her, thirdly I got to see her pout again, today was amazing. Okay the last two were just jokes but still I feel a little bad for not telling her I'm gay too, maybe I'll tell her tonight, but I need a reason.

"Hey Marnie you wanna go out and get like a housewarming dinner?"  "Sure, but only if I pick there are a lot of, shady restaurants in Spikemuth" "I am not excited to find out what that means, anyway I'll get ready"  I started to strip done to my underwear, and pulled on a shirt, some leggings and a leather jacket to match Spikemuths steampunk style. While I changed I watched Marnies face get progressively redder before she caught my eye and stuffed her head into a pillow. I know I'm a little oblivious when it comes to love but I really like Marnie like a lot but I don't wanna ruin what we already have. If she wasn't into me and I confessed then I think I would literally die, right then and there, but I'm pretty sure she is, and I'm pretty sure she knows I like her too. "Hey you gonna change out of your gym leader outfit, or do I have to share you with the rest of Spikemuth?" "Wait a minute, did you just refer to me as being yours?" Marnie managed to muster up. "Maybe~"  

Maybe I overdid it with the 'friendly' flirting because right then Marnie fainted. So much for dinner, I picked her up and set her down on our bed properly. I decided I would be best to just let her rest. I began to change, again, into my jammies and thought about dinner. Maybe I could cook a curry, I've been making curry since the start of the gym challenge so it shouldn't be too hard. I made my way to the kitchen when I realised we didn't have anything in the fridge, I'm only now feeling grateful that my mum packed berries and my finished curry dex in my bag. I found the berries and my curry dex after some searching and got to work. I decided to make a simple spicy curry because I didn't have many ingredients to work with. I kept some for Marnie on the stove and began to eat. I probably looked like a weeb eating curry on the couch, wearing zamazenta jammies and watching Alolan soaps on tv. I cleaned everything up and left the curry on the stove in case Marnie woke up hungry, and decided to go back into the room where I found a very awake Marnie looking at a pokeball with a note on it. 

She tried to hide it by tossing it under the bedside table, but instead and applin came out with bright flash of light. I knew that only meant one thing, Marnie wanted to give someone that wasn't me an applin. Apparently, according to old Galarian tales, when you give the person you love an applin you are supposedly destined to be together forever. Some couples like to give them to eachother alongside promise rings, some people like to give them while they confess so the one they love doesn't decline. My heart sank, if Marnie had wanted to give me that applin she would've by now. That's probably why she came out, she wanted to tell me about this crush of hers. I always go assuming that things revolve around me, guess I'm really letting that champion thing go to my head. "Hey, Gloria I'm assuming dinner's not on" Marnie asked while sending her applin back in its ball. "Yeah, you were knocked out for a couple hours, probably due to stress, and other stuff"  I mumbled the last part, "I left some rice and curry on the stove for you"  "oh, so I'm assuming you've already eaten," I just nodded my head. She got up and stretched "uh hey I was just thinking we could have dinner together, I know it's dumb to ask even after you've eaten but I've just wanted a chance to catch up since we haven't done that for some time, but I understand if your tired and just want to sleep" The last thing I wanted right now was to talk to Marnie, I know she did nothing wrong and that she's still my friend, but part of me just believes there's no point if she doesn't like me back. "I think I'm just gonna sleep"  She looked disappointed, but just nodded and walked out.

I flopped on to the bed, it doesn't matter if she likes someone else I'll still do the best I can for her, all I want is for her to be happy and if that's with someone else then so be it. I hadn't realised but I'd fallen asleep quite quickly and that Marnie was cuddling me in my sleep. Her eyes were puffy and damp as if she was crying, I'll ask her in the morning but for now I'll just cuddle her back.
