"Did you hear about captain and the vampires?" The messy haired brunette, Eren Yeager said as he looked between his friends, "No disrespect, but the old guys gone mad"

Jean laughed, "You just figured that out? I've always thought that man was crazy!"

"I bet he's vampire himself, clearly captain stopped growing at the age of 6" Connie added to their laugher. But everyone gave him questionable looks instead.

"Connie, are you saying that you were 5'3 when you were 6?!" Sasha pointed, laughing harder at Connie's obvious stupidity.

"Huh?"

The teens continued to make jokes and playfully banter amongst one another in the night. It was later than they thought when the door flew open, scaring them all.

The section commanders sudden presence caused the group to jump, unexpectedly paranoid from their conversation about the creatures of the night.

"Why are you all awake?!" Hanji asked, raising her eyebrow at the group of kids before readjusting her glasses and smiling, "Oh I see.. you've been waiting for me to tell you a bedtime story, right?"

She didn't give them another second to speak, or react.

"One bright and sunny day, Sawney and Bean-"

"Fine we'll go back to our rooms!" Jean interrupted, quickly squeezing past Hanji who proudly watched her work as the rest of the lot separated into their rooms. She closed the door behind as she left to finally go to her own room in hopes of a full night of sleep.

And when all the lights were off, another turned on for a specific figure lurking around the headquarters grounds.

Levi, who's room offered a window view of the horse stables, was suffering from another bad night of insomnia. He stared out at the view, on edge that he'd witness another vampire after years.

But that's what kept his senses heightened, and his guard higher. He sat up straight as soon as there was a dark figure walking to the horses, it came back.

Levi didn't waste a single second to grab a sharp wooden stake, and bolt outside to the horse stables. He hated to sit around and worry, so getting rid of this threat had to be done the moment a chance was given.

As he got closer, he noticed the figure was wearing a hooded cloak and dark pants to blend in with the night.

"What do you think you're doing!" Levi called out as he charged right at the vampire, who ignored him. Why wasn't it even reacting?

It didn't matter, he'd be getting answers no matter what.

Levi reached the creature, and stabbed the stake just at an angle to pierce its heart from below without going right through. The vampire was pushed to the ground against its back from the impact of Levi's force, and hissed in response.

"Answer me, or I will make you answer me" Levi said, slowly pushing the stake deeper into the vampires heart. Their red eyes faded into brown ones, and the vampires sense of hostility faded.

"Fine, I- I was told to come and feed on the horses!" They confessed, stammering through the immense pain.

"By who?"

The vampire gripped their hands around the wooden stake weakly and groaned out, their fangs retracting. Levi put more pressure on the weapon threateningly, giving the vampire a look. The increase in pain caused an animalistic growl to escape past the gritted fangs of the vampires mouth followed by another grunt and cry.

"I-I can't tell you!!"

"Why not?"

"I just can't!" They cried, "God just kill me already! Please!"

With one last push, Levi had finished off the vampire. In seconds it desecrated, it's skin turned blue and dark veins resurfaced from all over the body. It was a disturbing visual, but it would be proof of the existence of vampires.

The interaction had replayed in Levi's mind, and he thought to himself how strange the vampires behavior had been from the beginning. It didn't give a single response when he called for its attention, only did it acknowledge him when a stake was driven into its heart.

And the denial to give answers through suffering could only mean two things. Either the vampire had killer endurance, or it was under compulsion. Which confused him because vampires shouldn't be able to compel other vampires.

Unless there was an exception?

No, he was just overthinking it. It was obviously the hours he lacked of sleep had been catching up to him. It was a thought that needed to be slept on.
