"Harry, it's your daugther's birthday!" You argued as Harry stood with his arms folded, as though if he waiting for you to finish your rant before he even dared to speak. He went to speak but he was interrupted by the sound of your daughter, (D/n), speaking. "Are you talking about my birthday?" She smiled, sweetly. You lowered yourself so that you were making eye contact with her. "Yes, baby. Why don't you go and play in the other room?"

"Okay, but will daddy come and play with me when you're finished?"

"Of course, baby." Harry smiled, watching (D/n) run into the other room. When both of you were certain that she was out of earshot, Harry began talking. "Because I have to go, (Y/n)!" He said. "I have to go. I don't have a choice. The minister is on my case enough as it without this." Harry muttered, running his fingers through his hair.

"When do you ever call in favours, Harry?" You asked, and watched him as he was unable to reply. "Never. I'm sure that Shacklebolt will forgive you just this once if you ask him for the day off."

"(Y/n), leave it!" Harry demanded. "You clearly don't understand." He waved you away, ready to be over with the conversation, but you were only just beginning. "You knew what you were signing up for! I gave you the option to walk away!" You couldn't help but laugh at his comment. "Listen to yourself," You scoffed. "That is your daughter in there and she should come first, always." You gritted your teeth slightly as you muttered the last word of your sentence

"She does come first and so do you." Harry insisted, so you handed him a quill and parchment.

"Okay then, wrote to him and tell him you won't be able to make it." Harry looked at the parchment before he looked at you apologetically. "You're unbelievable." You looked at him before you started to walk away. "Of course, I knew what I was signing up for. I was dating the infamous Harry Potter. I knew the dangers but I didn't care because I loved you. I still do. I knew what I was signing up for when you became an Auror but that was before (D/n) came into our lives." Harry gulped, slowly realising that you were right. "You might be a dedicated Auror Harry, but what happened to you being a dedicated father?" You continued to walk away. "You might want to take a look at what you have Harry because one day it might all be taken from you."
