"Her body just, like, lifted up into the air, and, uh, and she just, like, hung there...in the air," Eddie begins to say, remembering the events of last night. I hold his hand, gently stroking the back of his with my thumb. "And her bones, uh, she, her bones started to snap. Her eyes man, it...it was like there was something, like, inside her head, pulling."

"I...I didn't know what to do, so I...I ran away...I left her there...you all think I'm crazy, right?"

I shrug and Eddie glances at me, a look of pain in his eyes. I've never heard of people levitating and having their bones broken by some invisible force.

"No, we don't think you're crazy," Dustin says and I can see he's telling the truth. What do they know that I don't?

"Don't bullshit me, man! I know how this sounds," Eddie interjects.

"We're not bullshitting you," Max retorts.

"We believe you," Robin adds.

"Look what I'm about to tell you might be a little...difficult to take," Dustin suddenly says, looking between Eddie and I.

"Okay."

"You know how people say Hawkins is...cursed? They're not way off. There's another world...a world hidden beneath Hawkins. Sometimes it bleeds into ours."

I sit there in silence, unable to believe what I'm hearing. I knew Hawkins was a weird place, but to be told there's another world seems unbelievable.

Eddie's hand, still in mine, squeezes gently.

"Like ghosts and shit?"

"There are some things worse than ghosts," Max adds.

"These monsters from this other world..." Dustin continues. "We thought they were gone but they've come back before. That's why we needed to find you."

"If they're back again, we need to know," Max says. All eyes are on Eddie. From how they're all acting, I know this isn't a joke. This is something serious.

"That night, did you see anything?"

"Dark particles, maybe?"

Eddie shakes his head.

"It would almost look like dust, swirling dust."

"No, man, there was nothing you could see or, uh...or touch."

I squeeze Eddie's hand.

"You know, I tried to wake her, man. She couldn't move. It was like she...she was in a trance or something."

"Or under a spell."

"A curse."

"Vecna's curse."

I break out into a cold sweat. This can't be happening.

"Who's Vecna?" Steve asks, completely oblivious to the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

"An undead creature of great power," Dustin answers, ominously.

"A spell caster," Eddie adds.

"A dark wizard."

"Fuck."

"I'm glad you're here," Eddie says once the others have left.

"I couldn't leave you alone. Not after the state you were in last night. What kind of friend would I be?" I reply, glancing at Eddie.

"A pretty shitty one. I'm sorry, again, for how I treated you these past couple years. You were one of the few people I could count on. Who didn't call me a freak."
