James was sitting on the Hogwarts express when a guy with black long hair took the seat in front of him.
He had a play full look in his eyes.
"Hello Hello" he said with the world's biggest smile on his lips." Can I ask for your name ?"
"My name is James Potter. What's yours?"
The boy's smile faded away.
"Too bad my name is Sirius Black."
There was a long silence.
"It was nice knowing you" The boy called Sirius turned around when James grabbed him by the arm.
"Where are you going?"
"I assumed..."
"You assumed what? Just because you're a Black doesn't mean anything. So now come and get your ass back here."
His smile was on its way back.
"Sure, Potter."
"And for god's sake call me James."
"Sure, James."
"Now what do you do for a living?"*A few hours later*
James and Sirius were sharing a box of Bertie Botts Beans when two boys walked in.
"Can we sit with you? There were some students that occupied our seats and we have no other place to sit."The smaller boy said. The taller one had a few scars on his face and seemed busy reading a book. Both of them had hair that looked like sand, only the taller one had a little darker hair.
"Yeah, why not." Said Sirius.
"Thanks."
The tall one whiteout taking his eyes off his book took a seat next to Sirius while the short one sat down next to James.
"So what's your name's?" James asked.
"My name is Peter Pettigrew." The short one said.
"And mine is Remus Lupin" The tall one said, still reading his book.
" I am James Potter and this is my friend Sirius Black."
Peter looked with fear at Sirius. He was starting to sweat.
"I have heard very much about the family Black. And the Potter family too. But one of each being friends? How long have you known each other?"
Sirius looked at Peter showing no emotion. But James didn't have to guess what he was thinking. Just as he was about to defend his new friend when Remus spoke.
" You should not judge people by what their family stands for. They could be totally different and just too shy to show it because of the way they will be judged by their family." Remus had put away his book.
Peter got speechless and started sweating more.
" But ..."
"It's okay." Sirius said shortly.
There was silence. No one talked until Remus broke it.
"Anyone want some chocolate?" He held up a very large bag of chocolate.
"Oh Merlín, why do you have so much chocolate?"
Remus shrugged.
"Guess I just love it." He said with a smile.Peter was the last one to get chocolate. He was also getting very angry glares from James.
"Which house do you hope to get in?" Peter asked."I hope for gryffindor."
"Of course you do. I'm probably a slytherin."Sirius bit his lip.
"You don't seem like a slytherin to me." Said James."You seem very much like a gryffindor, and I have just known you for a few hours."
"My family have been gryffindors for centuries so I wouldn't be that surprised if I were to, but I could also make a great fit in Ravenclaw." Spoke Remus." I don't really care which house I get sorted into."
"Even if it is slytherin?" Asked Peter.
"What Hogwarts house you're in doesn't define your intentions. You could very much be kind if you're a slytherin."
Peter gulped and looked down in silence.
James looked at Remus. He looked bored. Not like he had just defended a total stranger aka Sirius.
"Wanna play some cards?"Remus asked.
"Yes!" Peter answered rapidly.
"Yeah sure." Both Sirius and James said in a choir. When the train had stopped at the Hogwarts station Sirius noticed the height difference. James was clearly taller than everyone and Remus was very short, shorter than he had seemed at the train. Even shorter than himself. Peter was the shortest of them all. Sirius had always been one of the shortest but seeing Remus and Peter being shorter than him made his day. James, by the other hand, loved being the tallest of them while Peter hated being the shortest and Remus, well he didn't care at all.
The sorting hat screamed gryffindor as fast as it touched James' head, which was no surprise, that was at least what Sirius thought.
Peter got sorted into Gryffindor very fast, not as fast as James but it took nearly 15 seconds.
When it was Remus' turn he sat there for a very long time. Even though it took so much time, Remus didn't seem worried. In fact, he was swinging his legs back and forth and looked as calm as a sleeping baby. Sirius also noticed his legs didn't reach the floor, which was very cute.
Sirius really hoped he would be a slytherin, so he wouldn't be all alone.
When the hat screamed Gryffindor Sirius was nearly on the edge of crying. He knew he was going to slytherin and he would do it without friends. He would just wait one year until Regulus begins at Hogwarts and then he wouldn't be alone.
He was so nervous when it was his turn. His whole body was shaking. He sat down and McGonagall put the hat on him. He closed his eyes and begged he wouldn't be alone. That was what he thought. He didn't listen to the hat who told him to calm down, that he wouldn't be in slytherin. It was first when the hat screamed Gryffindor out loud that he stopped. He opened his eyes and looked at James, Remus and Peter as he smiled, crying of joy that he got to be with his friends.
"Are you okay?" Remus asked when he sat down at the Gryffindor table.
" Yes, I'm very much fine." Sirius said, wiping his tears away."Hey, who's that red haired girl? "
"Where?"
"That girl, over there, she has very beautiful eyes."
