In the Gaeaverse, the Symkarian Empire has 3 distinct species of Proboscideans. Trunked mammals that have only included the African Bush Elephant, the African Forest Elephant, and the Asiatic Elephant. But here in the Gaeaverse, that is not the case. Two of which are members of the Elephantoidea superfamily while only one is a member of the Gomphotherioidea superfamily. Here are the 3 resident species of Proboscideans that reside on Symkaria and elsewhere.
Proboscidean #1: Palaeoloxodon Symkarius.
Family: Elephantidae.
Subfamily: Elephantinae.
Tribe: Elephantini.
Subtribe: Palaeoloxodontina.
Genus: Palaeoloxodon.
Diet: Herbivory.
Herbivory: Grazer.
Ancestor: Unknown but suspected to be descendants of one of the mainland species or even one of the dwarf species. While some believed that Palaeoloxodon Symkarius may have descended from an unknown Palaeoloxodon species.
Habitat Preference: Open Grasslands, Mountains & Islands (For the dwarf subspecies), Savannahs, Cold Deserts, Scrublands.
Height (Male): 13.5 feet.
Height (Female): 12.8 feet.
Herd Numbers: 8 - 12.
Bachelor Numbers: 3 - 6.
Lifespan: 80 years.
Adaptations: Hairier Coat (The thickness of the coat can vary depending on the temperature).
Mating Season: Year-round.
Range (Mainland): All over Europe, Russia, North America, Central America, South America, and parts of Northern Africa.
Island Dwarf Subspecies Residence: Great Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Sicily, Sardinia, Peloponnese, Spitsbergen, Nordaustlandet, Greenland, Arctic Archipelago, Svalbard, Franz Josef Island, Kolguyev Island, Novaya Zemlya, Zapovednik Islands, Severnaya Zemlya, New Siberian Islands, Wrangel Island.
Mountain Dwarf Subspecies Residence: Alpine Mountain and Atlas Mountain (Which are also dwarf subspecies).
Other Residence: Alaska & Canada (Though still massive, the populations that resided in Canada and Alaska are smaller. Around the same height as an African Bush Elephant).
Mainland Population: Unknown. But the population is around the hundreds of thousands.
Other names: Symkarian Palaeoloxodon, Holocene Palaeoloxodon, The Last Straight Tusked Elephant, The Last Palaeoloxodon.
Of the 3 Proboscideans that resided in Symkaria, Palaeoloxodon Symkarius is the largest. In order to avoid competition with the other two Proboscideans, the Symkarian Palaeoloxodon chooses to eat grass and wood, which wood happens to be the only common diet it has with the Symkarian Stegodon. Like with its relatives, the Symkarian Palaeoloxodon also has Island subspecies. Not only that but it also has mountain subspecies.
