Chapter [28]

Author's pov; 

"Petal." Jungkook caught his omega before he could fall to the ground. "Are you okay, love?" He asked, gently cupping his face and checking his body temperature which was normal. The omega nodded but Jungkook frowned, seeing the color on his face, "You look pale, are you sure?" 

Taehyung smiled, "I'm fine, handsome alpha." 

Jungkook picked him up, the omega squeaked in surprise. "You don't have to pick me up every time," Taehyung whispered. 

"I know but I can't let you walk when you nearly fainted just a while ago." Jungkook shook his head and Taehyung just hid his face in his alpha's neck, rubbing his nose over the skin so close to their mating mark. 

Jungkook inhaled sharply as he let the omega scent him while he proceeded to walk towards the border. Soon they were past the border and saw Lilly and Leo under a tree. 

"Leo, Lilly?" Jungkook muttered in confusion. Hearing the names, Taehyung raised his head and looked over where the two kids were. 

What startled him was the gloominess shadowing the always cheerful little alpha. He quickly told his alpha to put him down and ran towards the kids, Jungkook following after him. 

"Lilly, my pup. What happened?" Taehyung cupped her face, only to see the traces of dried tears. Jungkook crouched down on her side, putting a hand on her back, slightly rubbing up and down. 

The little pup sniffled, "Taetae, why do-don't I have mama, papa?" 

The couple gasped, they looked at each other then at Leo who bit his lips, head down. 

"Wh-why are you asking this, pup? Did someone say something to you?" Taehyung asked carefully, picking her up and placing her on his lap. 

Lilly's tears fell again and told everything about how in her school some kids made fun of her for not having mama papa like everyone else. It broke Jungkook and Taehyung's hearts. 

"Even Leo is not telling me wh-where my mama, Papa is!" 

They glanced at the young omega, their hearts squeezed painfully seeing his trembling shoulders, hands curled into fists. The young boy was trying his best to not break down but when Jungkook reached to hold his hand so gently the boy looked at him. 

Jungkook shook his head as if telling him to not hold himself anymore. And they witnessed the way Leo's tough facade crumbled as fat tears rolled down his cheeks. 

"I don't have an answer." Leo shook his head, crying as loud as he could. "I'm tired!" It's been so long since he cried, the day he lost his parents was the last time he broke down like today. 

Taehyung felt his own eyes numbing, seeing those two kids crying like that. He hugged Lilly tighter and Jungkook pulled the boy down on his lap, wrapping arms securely around him. He breathed shakily, putting his chin over the boy's head. 

Both let the kids cry, cry their hearts out as they just embraced them in silence, staring into each other's eyes. 

Jungkook remembered those times when he would cry for his mother when he didn't know where to go after losing her. He remembered how hard he had to grow himself up. He had to mature at such a young age. And seeing those two kids, crying for their parents just refreshed his wounds. In his time he had none to rely on but now, if he could make those kids' lives a bit better than his, he would do that. 

And maybe Taehyung read Jungkook's thoughts, maybe Jungkook was being too easy to read for him now. He blinked his eyes at him as if a yes to whatever the true blood had in his mind.
