A/N: Quick TW, the main character in this story talks a little bit about the fear of SA (sexual assault), and I want to be super clear that I do not take this subject matter lightly, and want to stress the importance of awareness when it is included in fictional works. I do not support using it as a "trope", especially when that plot device takes the form of a male character acting as a "savior", and glorified for having basic respect, or when used to further advance another relationship in a story. I think that is, frankly, lazy writing and a very disturbing romanticization of a very sickening reality.

While I am very excited to dive into the world of "The Maze Runner", which I've been a fan of for many years, I think it is very important to recognize the dynamics that were very glossed over in the original book (written by a male author), and that I see dismissed a lot in other Maze Runner fanfiction, and even in works of fiction in general.

In this story the main female character is put into an enclosed area with forty boys. This is a very terrifying situation for her, as it would be for any woman in her situation. The fear that she experiences is very real and may sometimes be uncomfortable to read about. While I would prefer to pretend that all of the boys would be civilized and respectful, I think it would be disrespectful to ignore or dodge the subject. It would be just as disrespectful if not more to use the subject matter of SA in an ignorant way.

I am taking every opportunity I can to further educate myself on the topic of SA, as I encourage anyone reading this to do. I promise that I am trying to be as aware as I possibly can be while writing this story, but I am also a young, new, and inexperienced writer. I make mistakes! Lots of them! Every day! So please, please do not be afraid to leave a comment either on a chapter or write on my message board if you feel I have written something harmful, uneducated, or disrespectful in any way. In other words, do not be afraid to call me on my bullshit. Additionally, if you have any tips, articles, or educational sources that you think I should check out I would love to know about them! I have found such joy in writing my little stories, and want to become as informed and knowledgeable an author (and person) as I can be. :)
