It was Wednesday; Eddie's one day off each week from work and all of his commitments. A few short months ago, Eddie would have relished the time to himself. Now, he felt like a man on the brink of going crazy with nothing to distract him from the constant thinking about Chrissy. Chrissy's laugh, Chrissy's hair in his hands, the way she told stories, the way she made him feel like he was a good person, the way she tasted when they kissed... Eddie couldn't believe he'd turned into a girl crazy boy, but it was Chrissy. And missing her was worse than ever this Wednesday since they'd barely seen each other on the weekend. Chrissy's aunt and uncle and cousins had visited, leaving Chrissy and Eddie with time for only a few hurried kisses in the parking lot of Family Video on her way home from work on Friday.

It was already 9 o'clock when Eddie decided to drive out to the summer camp. The idea came to him after an entire day spent trying and failing to focus on anything other than Chrissy. He knew where the camp was, vaguely. She'd described it to him a few times. He knew she slept in a cabin with the other female counsellors, apart from the kids. If he could just sneak onto the grounds and find the right cabin then he'd find her. She'd still be awake, it wasn't too late. It was a good plan. Right?

Eddie drove like a madman and got lost a few times before finding a sign pointing the way to the camp. He followed the road into the woods and when he found the staff parking lot he switched off his lights and pulled into an open space. He snuck out of his van and up the path towards a little cluster of cabins. The smaller cabins were dark, but light streamed through the curtained windows of the two bigger cabins. He could hear boy's voices coming from one, and girl's voices coming from the other.

Eddie snuck up to the door of what he hoped was the right cabin and peeked through a crack in the curtains at the window. There she was. His golden-haired Chrissy. She was sitting cross-legged on one of the beds, her back to him, her hair hanging in a loose braid. She was wearing a long reddish-orange nightshirt, the same as the other girls he could see. Eddie had just started wondering how he was going to get her attention when one of the other girls shrieked. Over Chrissy's shoulder Eddie saw a black-haired girl gaping in terror, pointing her finger at him. Chrissy swiveled and caught a glimpse of him, right before he ducked, deciding he should have knocked before peeking.

A few seconds later, someone yanked the door open and nearly a dozen girls peered out at him, angry or curious looks on their faces. Chrissy was amongst them, trying to hold in a laugh. Eddie held up his hands placatingly.

"Hi," he said, "I didn't mean to scare you, I was just looking to make sure I had the right cabin. I swear I didn't see anything you wouldn't want me to see. Chrissy?" he looked to her for help, but by then she was doubled over laughing.

"Chrissy, do you know this freak?" A pretty girl with two long braids of straight blonde hair demanded. She looked like someone who would appoint themselves the leader. This was probably Rachel, Eddie realized. Chrissy had told him about her many times.

"Rachel," one of the other girls said, "don't be so rude."

Chrissy straightened up and did her best to stop laughing. "Girls, this is my boyfriend, Eddie," she said.

Eddie's heart skipped a beat at the word boyfriend. He still wasn't used to it. To someone like Chrissy wanting him, claiming him. He wondered if he ever would be. Eddie grinned and waved at the many faces now staring at him in shock.

"Eddie," Chrissy turned her attention on him, "what are you doing here?"

"Umm, I missed you..." he said weakly. Now that he was here, his plan didn't seem like such a good one. He knew visitors weren't allowed and even if they were there was nowhere he and Chrissy could go to be alone.
