The Wish

As a child i always wondered what it would be like to embark on a magical adventure or what it would be like to take on the role of a witch. I thought it would be as easy as riding a bike! I was wrong, very wrong.

My journey began 23rd February 2020 exactly 3:32 pm. It had been a long day and I had finally returned home from school, for me school finishes at quarter past three and it was about a fifteen minute walk home. If i was lucky it would be sunny but usually in england the weather isn’t as nice as other countries. The weather would sometimes be so bad that i’d walk home and my long brown hair would be a mess ,from the wind, by the time i stepped into my house. I lived in a little cottage just on the side of the village, behind us was a forest that separated the village from the city that was not to far away from us. The area was pretty nice as it was well looked after, everyone in the area did their part which helped a ton! As soon as i step into my home i’m always greeted by my parents. My parents were known world wide as they produced toys for children, i needed to take on the family business ,as that’s why my parents decided to have me, when i become of age but i didn’t want to do that. I aspired to be a witch but my parents did not approve! I always begged and begged but nothing seemed to work, each birthday I hoped i’d get an acceptance letter and I hoped my parents had signed me up, it’s my birthday tomorrow so i do hope that they’ve signed me up! The school I aspire to go to was a very prestigious school, it was the best school in the world! It was named Celestia High. People would come from all over the world just to apply to Celestia High, you have to have top grades in everything to get in. Lucky for me i was top of all my classes. My parents thought i was top in everything just to take on the business but in reality it was just to prove to them i was good enough to enrol to Celestia High. By the time i had finished all my chores around the house i had to eat dinner, tonight was pizza as my mum needed something she could make quickly as she had a big meeting at six pm. Pizza in my opinion is very nice so i didn’t complain! I hope my parents will actually pay attention to me tomorrow and get me what i want…they never pay attention to me, unless it’s about my grades. Maybe that’s another reason why i’d like to go to Celestia High, I can live there and not worry about my parents. Maybe one day i can leave this place and do what i want with my life.

After Yuni had finished her pizza she ran up the staircase to her mini library, although the cottage was small she was able to keep her collection of books. Most books was on the shelf but Yuni had a stack of boxes in the corner of old books, she refused to get rid of as she had attachments to the books. She was classed as the ‘nerd’ at school as she had full marks in everything and she read a lot, reading a lot made her feel like she could escape and go to her own world where she could be free of worries. As she had the title of nerd she didn’t have friends so she was also known as the ‘loner’. She was terrified of talking to people from her past friendships with others, whenever someone speaks to her or she’s called out in class she goes into panic mode, her heart sinks then she feels really ill and dizzy. Usually the teachers pick on her more due to this reason but Yuni got used to it over time. Even if she did get the courage to talk to someone she’d eventually get to nervous and mess things up. When she had finished reading she closed the book she was reading (Bear, Wizard and the drawer) she got up off her window bay and put her book back into the bookshelf almost slipping off the ladders. As the the bookshelf was built into the whole wall, she had climb up a tall set of ladders to reach the top. She blew out the candle that was lighting the room up just enough for her to read her book and walked into her bedroom covered in plants. All though she was not allowed to go to Celestia High she still tried to grow her own magical plants, usually they’d just turn into regular plants but she still kept them as it made her room look pretty. As she stepped into her room she got changed into her silk pjs and hopped into bed. Her bed had black sheets and her blanket had space themed pictures on it. She loved stars and space, every night at exactly midnight she’d wake up from her alarm going off and go outside onto her balcony, remove the cover on her telescope and look for a shooting star. She’d only ever seen one in her life and she was too young to know you are supposed to make a wish when you see one. A few hours later and her alarm went off. *ring ring…ring ring…ring ring* Yuni reluctantly got up as she was in a comfortable position. It took her a few minutes to process exactly what day it was but when she finally understood she screamed, “YAY TODAYS MY BIRTHDAY!”
She had hoped she hadn’t woke anyone and ran over to her telescope knowing today was the day! She rushed to take off the cover and put her eye to the glass and moved the telescope around to see…A SHOOTING STAR! She was in so much shock when she saw one, she couldn’t believe her eyes! “it must be a birthday gift from the world. maybe something good will happen today!” she mumbled to herself. As her eyes followed the shooting star she made a wish. To herself she said, “I wish for my parents to accept my dreams and allow me to go off to Celestia.” She shut her balcony doors and curtains then walked over to her bed and went back to sleep.

*ring ring…ring ring…ring ring*

Yuni thought to herself “Morning already? I guess i should get up and see my parents. No doubt they’ve got me nothing like last year…”
Yuni walked out of her plant room and walked into the living room to see her mum standing with a box in her hands and her dad having an envelope in his. “Mum…Dad? What’s in those?” asked Yuni
“Well dear, you’ll have to take a look” said Yuni’s mother whilst handing her the box. Yuni opened up the box to see a uniform and a witch hat. “Mum…what’s this for?” Yuni asked, already having a hunch on what it was for. “Well if you open the envelope, it will answer your questions” said Yuni’s dad passing the white envelope with a red seal, sealing the envelope shut. Yuni carefully opened up the envelope making sure not to do to much damage as if it was what she thought it was she’d treasure it forever.

The letter wrote:

‘Dear Yuni Crawford,

We have sent you this envelope to inform you that you shall be starting Celestia High on the 28th of February. Please arrive at 12:30-3:30. After 3:30 pm we will close the gates and you shall not be able to enter Celestia High. At 3:40 you will be escorted over to our main hall and you will be sorted into your groups. After you have found your form group you shall all make your way down to your main room and you shall be taken down to a hall way of all your dormitories and on each door will have a 2 names, you will have to search for the door that has your name written on the piece of paper. You will read your dorm number and go to the member of staff who had taken you down to the dorms and you will ask them for the key to your dorm. After this you will have the rest of your day to get settled in and talk to your new roommate. Your time table will be on the back of this letter so we suggest keeping the letter for now, in future we will give you another time table you can access through your mobile phones and your wand. This time table will have all your lessons on, we will discuss the possible courses you can take after settling in.

“no way…” Yuni thought to herself.
