"Sometimes I wish you were still a tiger."
"...excuse me?"
Truly, this was the level of headache inducing trauma that Alberu Crossman had come to expect from the walking menace known as Cale Henituse.
"You were really fluffy." Cale explained, lounging on Alberu's couch like it was his second home. It practically was. Well, his third home. After the Henituse estate and his villa in the Forest of Darkness. Oh, and of course his inn over on the Eastern continuent and who could forget about the black castle in the Forest of Darkness and then there was Duke Fredo's estate and of course there was... well, Cale Henituse had a lot of places where he could lay his head down to rest.
Alberu sometimes wondered if it was fair that when he possessed an entire palace, this was the one place where Cale had decided his home was Alberu's bedroom. He didn't do this to any of the other people he crashed with, not to Alberu's knowledge at least, why exactly did the menace just have to take over Alberu's room every damn time he visited?
The real question was why Alberu welcomed him every time and faintly hoped he wouldn't leave. But those were thoughts to be dismissed as quickly as possible because he really wasn't ready or willing to face the feelings hidden behind them.
"...fluffy?" Alberu replied, looking entirely nonplussed as the stoic looking man known as Cale gave him a rather serious look.
"Of course, nothing is better than the sight of the great sun of our empire with all of his greatness and generosity but..." Alberu couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed with the meaningless compliments that Cale still insisted on teasing him with. "It was nice. Like I was traveling with a bed wherever I went." Cale explained, a faraway look in his eyes as he remembered the feeling. "I could just take a nap on top of you whenever I wanted."
And he certainly had. Alberu remembered vividly every time Kim Rok Soo had taken it upon himself to nuzzle against his fur and cheerfully nap the time away.
Except it really hadn't been that peaceful. Most of the time Kim Rok Soo was practically falling over from exhaustion by the time he reached the solace of Alberu's fur. In that sense, he could sort of agree with Cale. It would be nice if he could offer Cale a resting place every time he reached his limit and needed to recover.
In a way, that was a big part of the reason he kept his bedroom open to his troublemaker of a dongsaeng.
He just really needed to train himself to view Cale as just his dongsaeng.
That sort of thing got a bit harder when Cale said things like this without a care in the world for how it affected him.
"Well, if I ever grow fur I'll be sure to let you ride me again." Alberu said, rolling his eyes as he looked back down at his paperwork in hopes of distracting himself.
Cale wouldn't be here long. He never was unless he was injured or it was an emergency, and even then his visits were painfully brief as the work-a-holic moved on to his next major scheme without a care in the world for how it deteriorated his health.
It could really drive a guy crazy.
Cale peacefully munched away at the cookies though, seeming entirely at peace with his newest invasion of Alberu's privacy and clueless to how his actions made others sick with worry and, in Alberu's case, other emotions.
"Maybe I should give it a try." Cale said, talking to himself as he munched and Alberu looked up at him, an instinct for Cale-shaped trouble informing him that yes, this would be bad. "Seems doable."
"...try what?" Alberu asked cautiously, holding his paperwork up as though it would protect him from whatever the menace was plotting.
Cale looked towards him, a smile that could only be described as bright making his face look oh-so-fake. "Hyung." He began in his wheedling voice that he used when he was about ready to rob Alberu blind.
"Yes, dongsaeng?" Alberu replied tiredly, somewhere inside of him accepting that he would go along with it regardless of how tiresome the request was.
He really was screwed the day Cale realized that there were very few things on this planet that Alberu could deny him. He'd certainly become a broke and penniless man that day because Cale would take everything that wasn't nailed down.
"Let me nap on you."
"...excuse me?"
"I've been having trouble sleeping lately." Cale explained, his expression still giving absolutely nothing away as to what he was feeling. He looked like he was talking about the weather but apathetically so. "I remembered that I slept really well on the Dark Tiger. I'm wondering if it'll work just as well if it's you."
Lord, spare him from moronic dongsaeng's who were determined to drive him mad.
"...if it helps... I don't have a reason to refuse..." Alberu said, feeling as though he was walking into a trap but really, he didn't have a reason to reject Cale.
Actually he had lots of reasons to reject Cale. Lots of very good reasons and so many reasons that he shouldn't say yes.
But Alberu was only human and his own thoughts were turning against him, justifying it as a way to help Cale regain his health. He was looking pale and those bags were awfully concerning and Alberu only had to let Cale rest against him, right?
Alberu was not prepared for the way Cale rather shamelessly leaned against his shoulder, seeming to fall into a peaceful nap almost immediately. He definitely wasn't prepared for the way it became a habit.
The way that now, every time Cale invaded his bedroom he had to worry about the man eating cookies while casually lounging around and using Alberu's lap as a pillow, occasionally complaining about the lack of fur.
Alberu really wished he had it in him to establish more appropriate boundaries.
He wouldn't be able to do that. Didn't even want to.
Cale's habit of invading into every aspect of his life just included personal space now.
And Alberu would be lying if he said he didn't treasure the opportunity to gently brush through those red locks with his fingers, caressing Cale's cheek gently as he did so.
He had a feeling that Cale enjoyed it too. Or at least, Cale visited him more often these days and not just for emergencies.
