The Star of the Show
Season 1
003. "The Weirdo on Maple Street"Layla stepped out of her room wearing a tight white tank top with a sweater, and straight leg jeans, the moment the stepped foot into the kitchen it was silent.
"We need to make, what, two-hundred, three-hundred copies?" Joyce started, she was sitting at the table, smoking in between crying. She hasn't slept all night. Which no one could blame her, her son had gone missing and there was no lead to finding him.
"All right, mom, breakfast is ready." Jonathan said going to place the plate on the table.
Joyce scurried to grab the posters "No, no, be careful of the posters." The posters had "have you seen me' scribbled on the top in Jonathan's handwriting, as well as a photo of Will smiling.
Layla picked up one of them, she smiled at the picture before smiling and putting it back down so she wouldn't tear up. No one had really spoke, let alone Layla, she hadn't even said a single word.
Her mom looked up at her, she slowly sat up from the table and went to hold her daughters hands. "I'm sorry for not talking to you, I know your going through a lot too." Her mother spoke pulling her into a hug which took Layla a second to return, she wasn't necessarily an affectionate person.
The knock on the door interrupted that moment, Joyce dragged her way to the door, Hopper had been, yet again, in the Byer household.
"We've been waiting six hours!" Joyce stated. Hopper stepped in and closed the door behind him. "Yeah, I know. I came as soon as I could." Hopper assured
"Six hours!" Joyce repeated "A little bit of trust here, all right? We've been searching all
night. We went all the way to Cartersville." Hopper explained why he had taken six hours to get back to them.Layla scoffed "And let me guess... you found nothing" she said raising her eyebrows.
"Yeah, nothing" Hopper confirmed, the young girl rolled her eyes know the outcome of this search for Will was going absolutely no where.
Hopper started on another conversation with Joyce breaking the awkwardness. Layla made her way over to Jonathan "I think we should go see dad" Jonathan whispered
"Yeah, no see I'm good" Layla cringed at the offer "he won't be there, you'll be wasting your time going" she stood up grabbing a peace of toast and shoving it in her mouth
"We might as well try." He argued "We aren't going there, no is no, he's not there" she argued
But she knew better than to know Jonathan wouldn't take "no" for an answer and would end up going anyways.𖧷ꕥ𖧷ꕥ𖧷ꕥ𖧷ꕥ𖧷
Layla stepped through the doors as the bell of Hawkins High school rang throughout her ears. Joyce hadn't wanted either of her kids to leave but Layla needed to get out of the house that had memories of Will scatterd throught it. Even if it meant taking a history test that she hadn't studied for and would probably fail.
The stapler hit the board pinning up the posters Jonathan had made earlier this morning all over the board. She didn't know if this was really doing anything but she figured it was worth it.
"Hey" a strange voice that happend to come from Nancy said to Layla. "Uh, hey?" the girl responded confused "I just wanted to say... I'm you know, I'm sorry, about everything..." Nancy said awkwardly
Layla looked over to see the group that consisted of Tommy, who she hated, and thought of him as one of the biggest douches on campus, followed by Steve Harrington. And then their was Carol and Barb, which Layla hadn't really had any thoughts about. Barb was sweet, they maybe had had one conversation total.
