A makluan's oath

Chapter 4: Tales of Suspense Part 1

The makluan simply stood there over the suit he had wielded together. He tapped his chin in thought before lifting his head up to see some of the Tong standing there.

"The Mandarin wishes to see you." (Tong)

The reptile narrowed his eyes before clicking the button shrinking it down to the left arm price before putting it on. Following behind them.

They soon entered into the main room where the rest of the Tong was. Gene standing next his step father, Zhang who was in possession of the rings and placed the rings on his fingers.

The makluan stood there in shock as the Mandarin before Gene stood before. He quickly recovered as the Mandarin walked towards him. He looked down before kneeling to the Mandarin. Quickly glancing at Gene before mouthing 'I'm sorry, Gene Kahn.'

Time skip

The helicopters were lowering to the ground behind the group of Tongs who had arrived earlier to retrieve Tony and Pepper who had the fourth ring in their possession.

The door to the back of the helicopter opened as the Mandarin walked out followed by the makluan servant. Whose expression seemed switch between irritated and upset as he looked at Gene.

"Pepper, look." Tony said as he saw Gene tied up.

"Gene!" She uttered. "Gene! Wake up!"

Tony was about to run forward when one of the Tongs grabbed him. "Hey!"

He grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the Mandarin. Who grabbed his hand and pulled off the red makluan ring he was wearing.

"You're as arrogant as your father, Tony Stark." The Mandarin spoke harshly.

"What do you know about me father?" Tony asked before being pushed away by the Mandarin.

The armoured figure slipped the fourth ring on before continuing, "For you're own sake, I hope you are more useful." He clenched his fist as the rings began to glow.

"What do you know about my father?" Tony continued to ask.

"Stark, just... stop it's pointless." The makluan muttered from behind but stopped seeing the Mandarin glaring at him before hunching over in defeat.

Mandarin continued to clench his fist before opening his hand saying, "Put the children in the chopper. And then burn this place down."

The Mandarin walked to the helicopters as the Tongs carried explosives to the factory as Tony watched.

"No! No!" He cried as he was pushed to the helicopter.

The reptile following behind glancing over his shoulder. His attention snapping back to the helicopter as the Mandarin commanded him to follow. Sighing in defeat he continued but on his way past he glared and snarled at the Tongs.

The helicopter lifted off a few seconds before the explosion went off as the makluan watched with a twinge of sadness.

"What?" This catching his attention as he looked to his right to see Gene waking up.

"Welcome back." Tony said.

"Gene; I'm ok, don't worry. Are you ok, did they hurt you?" Pepper looked at the reptile. "Did he betray you?"

"Gene, what happened?" Tony asked. "The Mandarin, why did he come after you?"

"The Mandarin... is my step-father, Zhang. And he..." Gene twisted his head to the reptile next to him. "He had come in too late before I was taken and with his true master being the Mandarin he must follow his lead."
