I take a deep breath as a draw my bow back, the string landing on my left cheek. I aim towards my target and take a deep breath. While exhaling the string leaves my fingers, sending forth a crisp arrow. The arrow impinges the doe and she begins to run. Not making more than twenty feet she drops to the ground.

I lower my bow and run through the mossy trees looking for my wounded deer. When I find her she's already dead, I smile at my accuracy. I displace my arrow from the doe's heart and pull out my gutting knife.

Hopefully Jake doesn't tell Mom I went out hunting. She'll kill me that I shot a deer. But we need the food...

When I'm done packaging the deer meat I kiss my fingers and place them on the dead doe's forehead.

"Thank you." I whisper.

I jump over the fallen logs covered in moss carrying my bow and arrows, forty pounds of deer meat, and my snack bag. My muscles are tired and I need a break but I need to get home before sun down.

As I arrive in my village my friends Ashley and Asher bombard me.

"Did you get anything?" The ask in unison.

I laugh and brush my light brown hair out of my eyes. "I got a doe. Ill share the meat between our families and Jay's. My moms going to be livid that I went hunting but we haven't eaten in ten days."

"Oh, Iz she'll be grateful. I promise. How much meat?" Asher asks me, his deep green eyes widened.

"Probably around forty pounds. And between our three families we can eat have about thirteen pounds a piece with one pound left we can give to the orphanage." I smile and we start walking to our Domiciliate.

Ashley, Asher, and Jay are my only friends. We were raised in the same Domiciliate and have been friends since birth. Our parents are also all friends, which I guess is the main reason why we became friends and have remained friends all these years. Ashely and Asher are twins, both with green eyes and black hair. They're also the youngest of our group, aged at 16, while Jay and I are 17. Jay is a red head with blue eyes. As for me? I have hair the color of a light brown, and bright blue eyes. I have the most normal look but yet they all insist that I'm pretty, I don't believe them.

We arrive at our Domiciliate when the sun is just a hair over the horizon. We part to our Dome's. "Hey guys, Ill split the meat and walk over and give it to you guys in the morning before school, okay?"

They smile and both agree to my plan. As I enter my Dome I set down my bag and my eyes land on my mother. She's standing with one hand on her hip and the other pointing at my bow.

Oh shit.
