Stepping out into the dim morning light, I surveyed my surroundings. Lush oak trees, perfectly manicured lawns, and swings decorating every porch. Breathing in the crisp country air, I smiled. It was so much better than New York. All the commotion and exhaust fumes made me sick. It was nice to finally breathe in something clean. Matt stepped out of the house after a little while after me, devoid of his pink apron and smiled. I stepped off of the creaky wooden porch and walked over to the car. Taking a deep breath, I opened the door and got in, staring blankly out the window. As we pulled into the school parking lot, waves of panic began to wash over me. My mouth became dry and a lump formed in my throat as I desperately tried to regain his composure. Matt must've noticed since he leaned over and embraced me in a bone crushing hug. “This may seem very feminine and stuff, but um I love you bro. You're going to be fine. Okay?" he reassured me, pulling away and playfully punching me in the shoulder. "Okay ... I can do this. I can do this." I said to myself, trying to steady my breathing. Once I'd calmed down some, my brother pulled a slip of folded paper out of his pocket, handing it to me he said, "It's your schedule, locker number, and combination. Oh and here's some money for lunch or whatever." I took the schedule but refused the money, which I ended up having to take anyways after Matt forced it into my palm.

After waving a quick goodbye, Matt pulled out of the parking lot. I stood there for a minute, dumbfounded, and began to walk to the front doors of the school. All around me, there stood groups of kids, chatting about random things and discussing what they did over the summer. Since I didn't know anyone I went and sat under the shade of a nearby tree and began waiting for other people to move into the school building. Yeah, that’s what I was going to do. I'd just follow what everyone else did and things should work out just fine. I sat under the tree for quite some time before pulling out a notebook and doodling on the cover, and pages. I was startled when I heard a loud rustling in the tree. Confused, I looked up and saw what had caused the sound. It was a girl, but not just any girl. She was the most beautiful I'd ever seen. Her porcelain skin much like my own, stood out amongst the sea of sun tans that was the student body. Her vermilion hair cascaded wildly to the bottoms of her shoulder blades and her sparkling blue- green eyes peered at me almost eagerly. A black septum adorned her tiny nose and the gauges in her ears caught my attention. I just couldn't take my eyes off of her. Gracefully, she jumped out of the tree and landed lightly on her Vans clad feet. Once I had a closer look at her clothes, I smiled. We were both wearing Pierce the Veil shirts and the fact that I just might possibly get to know someone that understood my taste in music was making me eager to acquaint this mysterious girl. She stood in front of me, looking directly into my eyes, and said in a strong voice that contained a hint of shyness, "Hello." My eyes widened when I heard her voice. It sounded like a chorus of angels. Everything about this girl was perfect, just absolutely perfect. "Hi." I managed to choke out, my attempt at sounding confident was a complete fail. The girl's light, breathy laughter filled the air around us and I gasped at the sound of it. She took a seat on the grass beside me; sweeping her bright red locks over her shoulder she introduced herself. "I'm Imogen. Imogen Todd, but everyone calls me Snow." she said quietly, extending her hand. I cleared my throat before speaking, “I’m Ethan Carlisle." I clasped her tiny hand in mine and shook firmly. "Hmm.." she sighed. "I like you already Ethan Carlisle." she said with a smile. What had he just heard? Did this amazingly beautiful creature just say that she liked him? Woah. This day was getting better and better every minute. Pretty soon, Marceline suggested that they play a round of 20 Questions to get to know each other, and when it was over, Ethan actually knew quite a lot about her. They shared the same favorite color, favorite bands, and favorite movies. Marceline "Snow" Todd was the most amazing girl that Ethan had ever met. Eager to learn more about her, he began to ask more questions but was cut off by a rather obnoxious bell. Giggling, Snow stood up and brushed her pants off, turning around she extended a hand, offering to help him up. Ethan shoved his notebook back into his backpack and looked up at the smiling girl in front of him. He looked at her hand and took it in his own, accepting the kind gesture. Snow then reached into Ethan's pocket and retrieved his phone, and after typing something she handed it back to him. Seconds later her phone made a pinging sound. She smiled at him one last time before turning and walking away.
