Teddy Bear

Hold my hand when you're feeling scared,

Squeeze me tight when you're unprepared.

Confide in me; I'm always there,

Your faithful, battered teddy bear.

I'll listen to your joys and woes,

Keeping secrets nobody knows.

I'll keep a look out for your foes.

I'm there for you to hold me close.

I'll be the one who dries your tears.

When you're alone I'm always here.

Ignoring all the wear and tear,

Your loyal, battered teddy bear.

But still I'm not the one you need,

And even though you beg and plead.

I really wish I could declare,

I'm just your average stuffed bear.

I lack the strength to walk and speak.

I wish I could but I'm too weak.

I lack the heart to care and feel.

Oh, how you've wished that I was real

I lack the mind to laugh and cry.

I fear the day you say good bye

I hope you realize I'm still there,

Your lonely, battered teddy bear.

Before you sleep you hold me tight,

You close your eyes and say, "Good night."

I've lived my life under your care,

Your loving, battered teddy bear.
