"Good morning.", Kuvira says as I enter our kitchen.
"Mmmmm.", I groan in response.
"Chipper as always."
"You know I hate the mornings.", I say as Kuvira finishes putting a fresh cup of coffee on the table where I usually sit.
I move the chair to sit down and say, "I'm surprised you're up before me. I thought you were pretty drunk last night.".
Kuvira closes the fridge, taking out the half and half and setting it on the table for me.
"Nah, I was fine. I was just having a good time.", she says while sitting down with her cup of coffee, reaching for the sugar in front of her.
I finished stirring my coffee and take a sip from it. It instantly warmed me up and brightened my mood. I take out my phone as the echo of Kuvira's spoon hitting her cup fills the room. I think back to the girl I met last night and stare at my phone. Hovering over Asami's phone number. I fell asleep thinking about her and all of the possibilities.
"You want to text her, don't you?", Kuvira asks, breaking my train of thought.
"Is it too soon?"
"She did give you her number. Doesn't that mean she wants you to contact her?", Kuvira says with a hint of irritation as she sips her coffee, and then smiles in delight.
"Yeah, but would it look too desperate? Don't people wait a few hours or a day before texting someone they're interested in? Shouldn't I play it cool?"
"Only stupid people do that. You're not stupid. Just text her if that's what you want to do.", Kuvira exasperated.
"Ahh. You don't think I'm stupid.", I say as I fake to be touched by Kuvira's comment.
"I'm beginning to change my mind."
I hover over the keyboard of my phone and begin to get lost in the thought of what I want to say. I could just start off with a simple 'hey' and see where that goes. But, where did I want this to go? I wanted to spend more time with her but I wanted something less formal than a date. I don't feel ready for that. A date had too many expectations.
My mind wandered off to Opal and how she could be a great match for one of my closest friends. She was cute and sassy, but as Asami assured me, she was also sweet. He could use someone like her. Right, when I was about to mention an idea to Kuvira she slurped her coffee loudly and let out an 'ahhhhh' in satisfaction.
"Don't I make the best pot of coffee ever?", Kuvira says while her eyes are closed, relishing in her creation.
"It's not that hard to make.", I grumbled.
"Yet I hate it when you make the coffee.", she says opening her eyes.
I rolled my eyes and said, "Anyway. Don't you think Opal would be perfect for a friend of ours?".
Kuvira wore a thoughtful expression, analyzing the night she had spent with the girl. Then the realization hit.
"You're right! She'd be perfect for Bolin! She'd keep him on his toes, which is what he likes."
"Exactly! What do you think about inviting them all over? We could have some sort of potluck.", I say enthusiastically.
"Hmm. I kind of like that idea but do you think it would throw Asami off? Like she probably thought she'd be spending time with you, not you and other people." Kuvira points out.
"Maybe but I think this is the perfect way to get to know each other more without the stakes being that high. It's just something lowkey.", I say as I take another swig of my coffee.
