My eyes wandered in the four-sided wall of our classroom until it darted to the man sitting in the corner with his specs on. He is watching me intently with lips half open. I averted my gaze even though I can sense that he is still watching my reaction.
"For the next activity, you'll be highlighting your dream job and your plans after college," Ms. Solana said.
"Miss, sa atubangan namo isulti?" pangutana sa akong klasmit.
"Yeah, I'll give you 3 minutes to prepare and we'll start with Ms. Eleanor Piala."
Shuta, ako pa juy una! Mo reklamo unta ko pero wa nalang kay ako man sad gud gauna tapos patuyok mani kay ga form man mig circle.
After 3 minutes, gakurog akong tuhod na niadto sa atubangan.
"Go, Elle! Tarunga kay gatan-aw si Kian!"
I glared at my best friend who smiled evilly at me.
Jusko!
"Hi, I'm Eleanor Piala. Ever since I was a kid, I wanted to become a future educator just like Ms. Solana and the other teachers in this school. I like educating students and to be their anchor in achieving their goals in life," I bit my lower lip because my heart is pounding so fast. Kian's stare is melting my whole body like jelly.
"Science guro Ms. Solana kay I love Science," I said and chuckled nervously.
"Wow, nice! So, what are your plans after college?"
"My plans after college is...probably passing the board exam. Work and earn money," tubag nako og padung na unta ko molingkod sa lingkuranan pero nangutana pa si Ms. Solana.
"Di ka magminyo?"
I don't know why pero akong mata nihunong kay Kian na nagtan-aw sad nako. He raised his eyebrows at me.
"Kung di ko mahimong doctor, magminyo ko og doctor," I said the last line while watching Kian.
He smirked at me. Niginhawa ko og lawm kay first time ko to gebuhat and nagpakita ug motibo. Yeah, right now I am lowkey flirting Kian Jace Valdez. Bahala na after ani di nasad mi magkita.
"Hi, I'm Kian Jace Valdez. My parents are both doctors and I also have decided to take up medicine as my course in college, " he said and directed his gaze at me. "Just like, Ms. Piala, one of my plans after college is passing the board exam. For those of you who are saying that my parents forced me to become a doctor...it is not true. My parents did not force me to do it. I wanted to become a doctor because I want to help those who are in needs."
Nipakpak akong mga klasmit. Niapil sad kog pakpak kuno.
"What about you, Mr. Valdez? Do you foresee yourself getting married?
"As of now, Ms. Solana, I can foresee marrying one of your students," he said and look at me. "And for the second question, only the girl whom I want to marry can answer your question." nitan-aw nasad si Kian nako balik.
"What age are you planning to get married?" he asked while watching me intently.
Pwede makuyapan?
"28," I answered.
He smirked.
Nilakaw siya padung sa atubangan ug ge atubang among maestra.
"Good, then. To answer your question Ms. Solana, I'll get married when Eleanor Piala turns 28 and by that she'll have my surname."
Namula og maayo akong aping tapos akong heart mura nag ga fun run.
Nitan-aw siya balik nako ug getarung iyang polo.
"In addition, I want you Eleanor Piala to practice writing your name with my surname because you're bound to marry me whatever it takes," he said. "This is not the ending but rather the beginning. I'll marry you not because you wanted a doctor as your husband but because I want you for myself. I want to be your husband."
After 11 years, just like what Kian told me when we were in high school that I'll have his surname as my surname and that's true because I am now married to him. Yes, I married the man who promised me a future. I once think that future is uncertain not until I met him. He made me believe that future is certain if we work things out together.
