"Holy shit!" The academy student backhanded their friend's shoulder. "Look look look!"
"What?!?" The friend turned around at the incessant tapping.
"That's the 7th! The 7th!"
"WHAT?" Their classmates scurried to their side. They watched in awe as you and Konro followed Captain Shinmon at his left and right in your perfect gray, black, and dark blue floor length kimonos. Your necklace reflected the sun, flashing rays of light to the admiring youth.
"I'd give anything to be enlisted in company 7."
"I'd literally die if any of them even talked to me."
"Captain Shinmon, glad you could join us." Burns greeted near a tall staircase. "The captains were just gathering in our observation suite." He looked to you and Konro. "It's just for the captains, I'm afraid."
Beni shrugged. "Then I'm not going."
"Waka." Konro sighed.
"We'll meet up with you later, Captain. I see Company 8 waving us over to take a seat with the other lieutenants." You gave him a reassuring smile. We'll be fine.
Beni's hand brushed yours before you and Konro turned to the stands. As Burns lead Beni up the stairs, Beni looked back at you both. He hated being separated.
"Vul! How the hell did you get in here?" You smiled as you approached their seats.
"Each company can bring a rep from the engineering and science teams! That's why you're here, isn't it?"
"No." You grumbled. "Gaku was right."
"What?" Vulcan looked between you and Konro, confused.
"They didn't include that option in our invitation." Konro shook his head.
"Y/n?? Y/n L/n??" A familiar voice called.
"Oh fuck please no." You mumbled under your breath. Konro raised an eyebrow down at you and glanced to Mara, who'd pulled out a spike with a scowl and stood from her seat.
"He's a fucking lieutenant now?" Mara hissed before you turned around.
"Isaac." You greeted with an obvious forced smile.
"So good to see you! What the hell are you doing here?" He asked in cheery but condescending surprise.
"I'm a lieutenant at the 7th, and the head of their engineering department."
Isaac scoffed. "Asakusa has an engineering department? For what, refilling oil lamps?" Hinawa unclasped his gun holster and rested his hand on the handle. "They're lucky to have you, Y/n. Maybe you can bring them into this century." He tacked on.
Konro couldn't care less about what Isaac said about Asakusa. But he didn't like how uncomfortable you looked.
"The 3rd's tech is pitiful compared to her work." Vulcan replied after he glanced to Isaac's Company 3 patch.
"Holy shit, you finally met Vulcan Joseph. Must have been a dream come true for you." Isaac spoke down his nose to you.
"Re-met. Turns out we go way back." Vulcan corrected. Mara had never seen Vulcan interact with someone without a single smile.
"My old boss was pretty obsessed with you, too. Nice to finally meet you in person. Heard incredible things." Isaac extended a hand, but Vulcan's arms remained crossed.
"Not a big fan of your old boss."
"So I've heard. Well, with so many unpowered members at the 7th and 8th, I should hope your tech would be better than ours. That's the only way you lot could keep up."
