i zoned out to the music of clinking forks and straws attempting to drain
empty cups. my fingers typed at world record speeds so that i could finally finish the first draft of my english essay before the end of the day.the chimes on the entrance to Benny's clinked when a new customer entered. Even though i managed to ignore the previous chimes this one made me pause.
I quickly glance up and my heart catches. i had to do a double take. a gift from heaven just entered the shop and he wears flannel shirts, baggy jeans and big clunky headphones around his neck.
he looked around the shop before getting to the counter. "can i have a caramel frappuccino with extra caramel, please?"
his raven waves brushed the edge of his chin when he ducked his head to get his wallet. after handing the money to the cashier he left the counter and found a seat.
out of all the chairs he could've chosen to sit in he chose the one in the table across from mine, facing me.
i studied his face like a judge, chin in hand, his dark doe eyes with golden flecks in them look up filling with curiosity. my eyes trace his dark brows and the puzzled arch he made with them.
wait.
i zoned back to reality and realized this mystery boy was staring right at me.
despite my dark tone my face flushed redder than a cherry.
forget the essay, i was just caught staring at someone. in a haste to pack away my computer and books i knock over the remainder of my coffee. what felt like one hundred pairs of eyes turned to stare at me.
i frantically grabbed at the napkins in the box given on the table.

"Do you need help?"
i slowly look up, mortified hearing the familiar voice. surely i find the mystery boy hovering over me, hands on his knees like he was looking down at a child.
he was close, too close. i stumble back onto my hands, thank goodness i wasn't wearing a skirt.
"No, i'mokaythanks," i say through a forced smile.
the employee that took his order comes by to clean the mess with a mop. i feel bad that i just added to it with the napkins.
mystery boy holds out a hand toward me with a smile.
i. want. to. die.
but i can't help but notice his... lips. uniquely but beautifully shaped, bee-stung and the perfect pink.
hesitantly i put my hand in his and he helps me off the floor.
i hover in his gaze for a moment before i realized what had just happened.
"thanks," i scrambled to close my bag up and slung it over my back, "i have to leave now bye." i almost sprinted out of Benny's and back home, adjusting my clothes again and again to distract myself from the gut-wrenching embarrassment.
just wait until loren hears about this.
