"Theo!" I yell, leaning on the door frame at the front of the house. "We're going to be late!"
My great aunt strolls to the entrance of the house with a smile. She covers her mouth, "Oh my, you look gorgeous Ainslee-Bear."
I grin, "Thank you so much, Auntie Gloria. That means a lot to me."
I notice her white curls seem to be extra curly today. "Auntie, did you do your hair?" I question. "Your hair looks beautiful today."
Her face lights up as she brushes the hair away from her face dramatically. "You're too sweet."
Theo scrambles into the room as he begins to put his shoes on in a panic. My aunt and I watch with confusion. "Ready?" Gloria asks.
"Yes! I'm trying to hurry. I just couldn't find my lucky shirt." I look at his shirt, it was his grandfather's, my father's. My father used to sneak into concerts and buy their merchandise. For some reason, once he passed away, Theo saw this was the shirt he last wore and thought it was the lucky shirt. I chuckle, putting my hand on the door handle and adjusting my white jean jacket.
My aunt points to my jacket, "Did I buy you that, Love?"
I nod, "Yes, you did! This is the one with the sewn on it." I turn around to reveal the beautiful and small flowers. She smiles. "Well it fits you beautifully."
"Thank you."
Theo finishes tying his shoes before he stands in front of me. "Ready?" I ask.
"Ready," Theo confirms.
I twist the door handle and say goodbye to my aunt. We get into the car and immediately begin driving away. "You excited?"
Theo squeals excitedly, "Yes, yes, yes! Jax is so cool, Auntie. You don't understand. He's always talking about his sister too."
"Oh yeah?" I really would like to get to know Drew more than what was revealed yesterday. "Tell me about her."
"She is always working hard to make sure Jax is happy. Even if that means giving something up for it. She's really quiet to other people when at home she's very fun and playful. They love to bake and go for hikes. Drew loves to take pictures and she's been wanting this specific camera but... they're tight on money."
"It's important to save money but if she really enjoys it that can be an investment."
"Yeah," Theo says, beginning to roll his window down.
I bite my tongue. I haven't thought about the sleepover yet. I wouldn't mind it but it's up to Drew. I suppose we can see where the night goes but as of now... I don't mind. "About the sleepover, Theo," I begin, immediately causing him to look at me through the mirror, "I don't know if you will be having one, that is going to be totally up to Drew. So if she says no, I need you to respect that, okay?"
Theo smiles brightly, "Okay. I'm just excited to go bowling."
"Me too! We haven't had an outing like this in a very long time. I'm excited for you."
I hope that Drew and I can become good friends. I really don't have anyone in my life other than my nephew and my great aunt. Theo really could use a friend in his life. He deserves to be going out and having fun with others. Please... let everything work out perfectly. After a short drive, we make it to the bowling alley. We both get out of the car and we walk inside the building.
I'm sitting down at the table at the final lane of the bowling alley. I tie my shoelaces into a bow. "Ainslee." My nephew says. I lift my head up to see Drew and Jax at the counter. Drew is wearing low waisted black khaki pants, a black shirt... or a black bodysuit. She's also wearing a red jacket over top of it. Her hair is in a ponytail. She looks so pretty. Maybe I want to be friends with her more than I thought.
