CHAPTER 17: End

My father died peacefully on his deathbed. When he died, Orobashi was present. I still suspect that he killed our father too. But that's just a theory.

It's already night time and it looks like I can't go home. I pulled out my phone from my pocket and went outside of my father's room to call Miko.

"Hey, baby," she whispered. "Sayu is sleeping right now, so I can't talk loudly."

"It's alright, love," I replied. "Looks like I won't be home tonight, father... my father just died," I sighed.

"..."

"I'm sorry to hear that, Ei, and I'm sorry I'm not there for you,"

"Don't worry about it," I assured her. "In fact, we have some leads, but we're not entirely sure of them, so me and my sister will investigate more. Are you all right?"

"Yes, we actually had fun earlier," she said. "We bought a lot... Hopefully you won't get mad about your credit card,"

"Did you buy the whole mall or something?" I chuckled.

"No, you're exagerrating," she softly chuckled. "Sayu wants a lot of things, so I had no choice but to buy it."

"Well, if it's for her and for you, I don't mind my card being emptied the next day." I laughed, "I'll let you rest now. Make sure to call me if something happens, alright?"

"Mhm, go now, please go home safely; don't you dare put a scratch there on your pretty handsome face; you got that Raiden Ei?"

"Yes, ma'am," I chuckled. "I love you,"

"I love you too," 

I hung up on the call and leaned my back against the wall. Just hearing her voice, it just gives me energy. Now I'm pumped up. I went inside my father's room again, and my sister was still there, sitting on the chair beside my father. I guess she didn't expect our father to pass away like this.

"Stay here, Makoto. I'll get Scaramouche," I said, "Orobashi, please...prepare the most expensive coffin for my father. It had been his wish since back then."

"Of course, my lady," he said. "When will the funeral happen?"

"This issue will be only a secret; we can't let the world know that the Vampire Lord has passed away," I said. I'll have someone keep an eye on Orobashi's movements. I just happen to know someone who's perfect for the job.

I used my vampire speed to go to the castle gates. "Shinobu, Heizou,"

They appeared in front of me on their knees.

"What is it that you wish, my Lord,"

"Watch Orobashi's actions. Don't get caught. He's more observant than you think. One wrong move and your cover will blow up," I said as I wore my black coat. "At the same time, watch over my sister. If something happens, protect her immediately,"

"Yes, my Lord!" they both said, and vanished right away.

I'm now in front of Scaramouche's house. It was rather...plain that I thought. It was just a simple home, that's all. Nothing...expensive.

I approached the door and knocked on it. The door then opened, revealing a small man with an uneven hair cut, the same hair color as mine. 

"Fuck, no," he said as he was about to close the door, but I stopped it with my foot.

"Father is dead,"

"..."

"Come in," and I walked inside the house. The interior design was rather simple, but it looked cool and cozy. I suppose he still has some tastes regarding designs.
