It was a large, dark house and looked as if no life had ever inhabited or step foot in it. A house which had clearly stood a long time, centuries upon centuries, rotting away and moulding. Yet, surprisingly, people did live there. On the other side of the weed entangled windows and dirty stain glass was a 14 year-old girl called Stella White. She had never really known what her parents even looked like, as her mother abandoned her on the large marble steps of the orphanage. She hadn't even left her child a letter, an item, anything that she could remember her by. When she had turned 6 she asked the carer what happened to her parents. "They-" the poor woman quickly tried to think of an answer. Young Stella shrieked, "THEY WHAT?" And burst into tears. Losing her parents hadn't been easy, especially as a young girl. She would never get to do all the things she saw parents doing with their children on TV shows. They were always so happy together, parents and their children. Why weren't her parents happy with her? She shoved her face into her cushion and screamed, "WHAT DID I DO WRONG?!" Her roomate walked in, wondering what the noise was. Stella, embarrassed that her roomate had witnessed her small outburst, quickly said "Sorry about that, Loretta. I'm not feeling my best today." Loretta smiled and laughed, "Well good morning to you too!" Stella smiled but inside her blood boiled. She felt angry and sad and lonely as nobody truly understood the piercing pain she felt. It felt like a knife was continuously cutting a hole through her heart but the sheer pain never subsided. The bell rang at 8 to announce breakfast, and it was always the same disgusting gruel, and rarely with some bread on the side, but that was mainly for special occasions. The children looked lifeless and without any emotion. It felt like prison, but you were innocent and just really unfortunate. There was no sound. Nobody dared speak. Nobody really wanted to speak. These children had nothing in common other than the heart breaking experience of losing their parents. But Stella was ambitious. She wanted to someday meet her parents. She wanted to show them what they had left behind. She wanted to make them regret it. Regret abandoning their child.
