2 years after the Marineford Paramount War at the Sabaody Archipelago...

Today is the day the Straw Hat pirates reunite and set sail once more. After having been dropped off by Haredas from Weatheria, Nami had decided to hang out at a nearby bar.

Walking into the bar, the guests turned their heads towards her direction, completely in awe. She was beautiful then but the past 2 years made her even more beautiful than ever.

She brushed her now waist length, wavy orange hair behind her as she seated on one of the available stools at the counter and ordered a glass of whiskey.

She was excited and at the same time nervous to meet her crewmates again. Her best of friends. To meet him.

"I can't wait to see all of you again" she thought, memories of their faces flashing one by one in her mind, the last being her boisterous, loudmouthed Captain beaming at her with the widest smile on his face. This made the navigator blush lightly.

After she heard the news of the death of Luffy's sworn brother Ace during the Paramount War, she felt devastated. She felt sad about the fire user's death, she definitely did. They did spend some time with him in Alabasta after all. But the fact that she wasn't beside her Captain - Her Captain who had laughed with her, shown her so many new adventures, had bled for her, had saved her, and protected her. Her Captain who paved the way for her to be able to chase her own dreams again and most importantly, her Captain whom she had come to love so much. The reality of not being beside him at the most critical time of his life, the time when he needed them, needed her the most, broke her heart into a million pieces.

"Luffy, this time I'm going to protect you. I swear it." she thought, determination flashing through her eyes as she gripped her climatact tightly.

She drank the last of her whiskey as she stood up to leave and made her way to the Sunny.

Walking through the grove of trees, Nami looked around, a wave of nostalgia hitting her.

"Sure brings back memories" she recalled, shuddering at the memory of that fateful day.

Facing forward, she could slowly make out the silhouette of a figure standing directly on her path. She squinted her eyes, trying to determine who it was. As her eyes slowly sharpened its focus, she noticed that the figure was a slender and tall, raven-haired woman.

"Robin?" she excitedly thought. "Robin!" She called gleefully, running towards the said figure, as she waved her hand. But as she got closer, she realized it wasn't their raven-haired archaeologist. Instead, she felt fear, and panic as she readied her climatact in front of her in a fighting stance.

"There, there," the figure said, "No need to be so feisty. You are Nami, right? Navigator of the Straw Hats?"

"B-Boa Hancock!?" Nami blurted out with fear in her eyes "What do you want!?" She asked, gritting her teeth.

"Relax. I'm not here to fight." Boa reassured.

Nami stared the shichibukai down, trying to find truth in her words. Then she realized that the raven-haired woman in front of her had at some point looked down, her expression heavy with emotion that Nami could only paint as sadness.

"I just want to talk" Boa stated, as Nami relaxed her stance.

Nami answered with a nod, following Boa to a clearing.

There was a long silence between them. Nami waited patiently as she stared at the shichibukai's back.

Boa lifted her head and gazed at the sky.

"Your Captain." Boa said softly with yearning in her voice, "He's got quite a personality, doesn't he?"

Surprised by the unexpected choice of topic, Nami stuttered, "Y-Yeah, he does. How do you know him?"

"The day you were separated from each other he appeared out of nowhere on our island" she recalled, laughing at the memory of their first meeting, "He caused a bit of chaos, that Luffy. He crashed into my bath, and when I tried to turn him into stone, it didn't affect him, despite seeing my naked body. Probably because he's so naive, he wasn't affected at all by my beauty."

"Tha-that does sound like Luffy" Nami agreed, earning another chuckle from Boa.

"Luffy he...protected me and my sisters." Boa continued, a small smile tracing her lips, "Even after putting him through so much distress. He protected us without any hesitation at all. Like it was the most normal thing to do for him." She exhaled deeply, "And that's why...I fell in love with him."

Nami was surprised with the sudden confession from the woman in front of her, as she felt a pang in her heart.

"Hearing the news of his brother's imprisonement he begged me to take him to Impel Down." Boa continued, "I was against it at first, but you know there's no stopping him once he's decided on something. So I helped him break in, praying with all my heart that he'd come back to me safe." her expression turned glum, "The next time I saw him he was at death's door." Boa lowered her head, as she made a fist with her hand, recalling the state Luffy was in when he was rescued from Marineford. "After the Paramount War, I had suggested to Jinbei - "The first son of the sea", and Trafagar Law to take Luffy back to Amazon Lily to safely recuperate from his injuries."

Nami gasped, covering her mouth with her hands, as her eyes flashed emotions of hurt and worry.

"Thanks to Trafalgaw Law's medical skills he pulled through physically. But as Jinbei suspected, the death of his brother had impacted him mentally." She paused, "Luffy he...he beat himself up for his brother's death, calling himself 'weak' and 'powerless'"

Tears flowed down Nami's eyes as she imagined the thought of her Captain being so broken and helpless.

"He had given up. I couldn't do anything to help him. I could only watch until Jinbei talked some sense back to him. And it pains me to admit that what brought him back wasn't me but...his crew. His friends." She paused, "You."

This startled Nami, "Me?" she thought to herself, wiping the tears from her eyes.

"Although it wasn't me who pulled him out of the darkness; To show how much I loved him I promised myself that I would make it up to him in other ways. Everyday, I had the best meals cooked for him, I had the best change of clothing provided for him, made sure that he was as comfortable as possible." She vented, "Everyday I would stay beside him as he recovered from his injuries, even when he was training on Rusukaina I would drop by from time to time to check on him and each time I did I would always hear stories of your crew and your adventures...How the pirate hunter Zoro would always get lost on each Island you've been to, how delicious the meals are cooked by black leg Sanji, the brave tales of warrior Usopp, the illnesses cured by Tony Tony Chopper, the cool and super inventions of Franky, the stories from books he had heard about from Nico Robin, how the crew had brought back the shadow of the skeleton Brook at Thriller Bark, and how expertly the cat-burglar Nami would maneuever the seas...Many times I've seen the way he talks about each of his crew, but it's always when it's about you that he's different."

"What do you mean?" Inquired Nami softly.

"He would go into detail with his stories about you - 'The sway of Nami's orange hair in the wind', 'The twinkle in her brown eyes when she hears about treasure', 'The beautiful smile playing on her lips when she's engrossed in drawing her maps', 'the sound of her laugh echoing through the ship after hearing a joke from Usopp', 'her gentle voice as she hums tunes while watering her mikan trees'." Boa recalled, her voiced laced with sadness. "The look in his eyes also change when he talks about you, they show so much affection, so much love." She paused, and whispered to herself "Eyes that I long would be directed at me."

Boa turned to face Nami.

"Nami." Boa called softly, as she clenched her fist. "During the two years that I had spent with Luffy, I always took pride knowing that he needed me and it made me extremely happy to know that he considers me as his friend. But it was also during those two years that made me realize that...although it was me beside him almost everyday; caring for him, supporting him...Although I love him so much...it wasn't me that his heart...yearned for."

Nami was at a loss for words, as there was a brief silence between them once more.

"Nami, I have a favor to ask of you." Boa uttered, biting her lip, desperately trying to hold back tears. "Please...make sure that he eats well...that he doesn't get hurt too much..." Boa was little by little losing control of her emotions as tears started falling on her cheeks, her shoulders started shaking, her fist clenched tighter. "Please...don't allow him to give up on himself again...Please...protect that smile of his...Please...take care of him...for me."

Nami's eyes grew wide, and her heart ached for the shichibukai in front her. But Nami completely understood where Boa was coming from and what she wanted to convey to her.

"You don't need to ask. That's what I was going to do anyway." Nami stated, "You can leave him to me." She whispered, loud enough for Boa to hear, as she turned and walked away.

Wiping her tears away, Boa smiled, and mouthed a "Thank you." to Nami as she slowly moved farther away.

Just as the Straw Hats set sail, the Marines had started attacking them. In the midst of the battle, Boa Hancock and the Kuja Pirates had intervened and stopped the Marines from further pursuing the Sunny.

"Who dare attempt to block my path?" Boa exclaimed, pointing at the Marines with her head tilted back. "Don't you know who I am you filthy creatures?"

Afraid of the prowess of one of the most powerful pirates known, the Marines had retreated away from Sabaody.

Proud of what she had accomplished, Boa turned to watch as the Sunny sailed away. But for a brief moment she caught sight of Luffy and Nami animatedly chatting away or she must say arguing about something becuase Luffy seemed to have said something stupid which earned him a punch on his head from the now aggravated looking Navigator.

Boa let out a giggle, and with one last look at Nami, she thought to herself, "I entrust my heart to you, Nami. I know you'll make him happy..." she then shifted her focus to Luffy, "And to you, my love, I wish you all the best in the world. Thank you for everything you've done for me. Thank you for teaching me how wonderful it is to love someone with all your heart."

Flashing a last warm and genuine smile towards Luffy and Nami, Boa turned to face her crew.

"Alright, let's go home, everyone!" Boa ordered, receiving a loud "Roger, Snake Princess" from her crew.

Author's Note: Hi Everyone, thank you for your time reading this. I hope you enjoyed it. :)

I got the inspiration for this story from the song "Paubaya" by Moira Dela Torre. It's a really beautiful song. I've been playing it on repeat since yesterday. ❤

I really hope that I was able to convey the emotions from Boa.

Thank you again! Have a great day! :)
