Millie's POV

"Good morning!" I greeted my mum as I came into the kitchen. We eat breakfast together every morning before I have to leave for school and she has to leave for work. "Good morning sweetheart. Do you have practice after school?" My mum asked as she set a plate of eggs and bacon in front of me. "Yeah is that okay?" I asked, taking a bite and sighing happily at the taste. "Of course I just wanted to know if I was feeding one hungry teenager or three." I laughed and finished my breakfast before getting ready to leave for school.

My mum and I moved to Santa Monica, California from London around 6 months ago. At first I wasn't thrilled about the idea, I had friends back in London and a boyfriend. But I've learned to appreciate the beauty here and the new friends I've made have definitely helped. I love to sing and one day after gym I thought I was alone in the showers and started singing. Bathrooms have amazing acoustics so it's fun to try different songs while I shower. But a blonde girl named Olivia ended up cornering me in the stall and practically begged her to come sing for her band. It was very overwhelming and extremely awkward in the moment- since we were both naked -but I'm glad I ended up agreeing in the end because I've made some of the best friends I've ever had in my life. My friends back home seem to have already replaced me as well as my 'boyfriend'. So with those ties cut I'm embracing and allowing myself to enjoy Santa Monica.

"Hey Mills." Olivia smiled, appearing beside me at my locker. "Hey Liv." I grabbed my biology textbook off the top shelf and closed the locker, turning to face my new best friend. "So I have a surprise for everyone later at practice." That could really only mean one thing. Our bassist ended up ditching us for another band that doesn't even go to our school. "You found a bassist?" I guessed. Her eyes widened and she shhhhed me loudly. "Okay yes but I wanted it to be a surprise." I rolled my eyes as we started heading down the hall to our first period. "So who is it?" I asked curiously, taking my usual seat next to Olivia. "Her name is Sadie, I actually used to be friends with her at my old school in San Diego. But she just moved here for her dads job. She's really good at bass. She starts school on Monday since it doesn't make sense to start on a Friday ." I nodded. I did the same thing when I moved here. "Is she coming to practice after school?" I asked. "Shhhhh!" We both jumped, not realizing the teacher had come in. "Sorry we said in unison. When the teacher turned away however Olivia gave me a quick excited nod. I smiled and rolled my eyes.

"So what's the surprise?" Our drummer, and Olivia's boyfriend; Leo asked after some light practice. It sounds good but we need the bass. "I said 4:00 and its 3:50 now you can't wait?" Olivia asked from the couch she and I were sitting on. My mum and I have a pretty big garage so she let us set up our band stuff here. When it's nice out and not too hot we'll open the garage and enjoy the fresh air while we play. "Olivia? There's someone here for you?" My mum said, poking her head into the garage from the door connected to the kitchen. "Yes!!" The blonde squealed, practically flying out of the garage. "Wait here!" She yelled back to Leo and I. I laughed at her antics while Leo seemed confused. "You know the surprise don't you?" He asked and I shrugged. "She didn't tell me if it makes you feel better I guessed it." Leo opened his mouth to reply when Olivia reappeared with a really pretty red head. "Guys this is Sadie, our new bassist. This is my boyfriend; Leo and our friend; Millie." Leo and I got up to greet the newest member of our band. "It's really nice to meet you, Sadie." I shook her hand and then Leo was next. "I'm really excited, when Olivia told me she actually started a band. She used to talk about it all the time when we were younger." The red head laughed. I knew right then she'd fit in perfectly.
