chapter 12

The quest home

Morgana's pov:

Me and Merlin were in town when we saw our mother come through the gates with fear in her eyes. I ran to her and hugged her and I saw a bruise on her face. Right below her eye.

" Hello mother, what happened to you?" I ask concerned.

" Nothing really but I do need to speak to the king. The village really needs his help."

" We'll see if Arthur can get you a meeting with the king" , Merlin states worriedly.

I take mom to Guias to get looked at while Merlin goes to find his prince.

Merlin's pov:

So sis put me in charge of finding Arthur, no biggie, i can do that. I run through the castle thinking that he may not be able to get an audience... but I could be wrong. As I rounded the corner I hit a solid body. Look up and it's my prince.

" oh I'm so sorry ma lord," i say cuz he has others around him.

"Oh merlin it's quite alright it was an accident", he said with great love in his eyes.

He helps me up and dust me off. I hope we don't rouse suspension.

" Now tell me what's got you in such a hurry, hm." he asks, guiding me away from the group of knights.

" My mother, she's hurt, came saying she needs help from the king. I was running to find you to see if you could help us get an audience. I could understand if you cant. My sister took mom to get looked at." i say in a rush man he still has an affect on me.

" wait what? My future mother-in-law is here and she needs my help to see my father, ill see what i can do. Did she say what the issue was that she needed help from my father with?" He asks, composing himself better.

" no she hadn't. She just showed up a bloody bruise under her eye and a look of worry and fear. And don't worry she'll love you if she knew of us." i say clarifying what happened and elevating his own fears.

He turns and runs away, off to see his father. Hopefully he can get mum an audience.

Morgana's pov:

I help uncle with the days healing all the while secretly wishing to be with Gwen. She's with mum waiting for Arthur's answer. I personally think he's worried about meeting our mother. Gwen is too but she doesn't show it. Oh gods I didn't think about the engagement situation, how will our mother take it?

I was pondering it all when Gwen runs up with a smile telling me Arthurs done it, he's got the audience for us. With that we wrap up the day and head to the throne room ready for whatever may happen.

In the throne room me and Merlin stand next to our mother as she explains the situation to Uther telling him about kanon and his bandits stealing from them and how that won't survive if it continues. Uther thinks asking if cenrad would help giving thats his kingdom. Mom counters with the no he cares little for them and how uther is a generous king and asking again for help.

" im sorry hunith but i cant to do so would be a sign of war." uther finally says after not much thought.

" I understand", is all mom says in defeat.

She turns and walks away defeated. We follow her out of the throne room angry as can be. How could he, all because he is afraid to anger Cenrad. What ever happens we will fight for our home just hope Merlin is thinking the same.

Arthur pov:

I was walking to go find Merlin. I haven't seen him since father denied helping Merlin and Morgana's village. I hope he's not too angry. I love him. I just hope he doesn't play hero. I know him well enough to know he and gana will. Maybe I should find Gwen first then look for the twins.

Just then i see Gwen with Morgana and Morgana is livid.

" hello you to i am sorry my father wouldn't help if its any help ill come to help with the bandit issue. "

" oh Arthur thank you it heartens me to hear you say that my brother did good finding you." morgana says lightning up a little." gwe i know your worried but me and merlin will be fine and no you cant come it is to dangerous."

" you cant change my mind my love im coming to help. Plus i get to see where you grew up. Im not just going to set and do nothing im going to help and you cant stop me." gwen says with determination in her voice.

" alright you can come but it will not sit well with me if you get hurt. " morgana says in defeat.

I take it they've been arguing about it for a bit. And its settled the four of us are heading to Ealdor.
