The two kids sat down on the swings while chatting. Kappa pushed off the ground and leaned back gaining momentum. "Wow! Your so high!" Siren yelled while Kappa laughed. "Dare me to jump off?" Siren shook his head, but Kappa leaped off and landed on the ground with a thud. "Woah! That was awesome!" Both of them laughed for awhile. "Promise me this Siren," Kappa got back up brushing off the dust on his shorts. "Yeah?" Siren replied. "Promise me we'll always be friends. And you'll never leave me. Okay?" Siren giggled. "Of course!"

"I love you Siren!"
Siren stood infront of the boy as tears streamed down his cheeks, his body trembling. Those words could've been a spark, a light, a gateway, but Siren thought differently. Although he knew deep down, what his true feelings were, he just wouldn't admit it to himself. Their families are too different, THEY are too different. He could feel tears threatening to come out of his eyes. He needed to say something, something that would stop this, he hated what was going on. "I can't return those feelings. I love someone else." Although that's what he said, everything in him wanted to say something else.

"T-That's okay! We can still be friends r-right?" He knew that Kappa was absolutely heartbroken. "No. I never want to see you again." This hurt them. Both of them. Siren desperately wanted to take everything back, tell him 'I love you' and apologize, but nothing came out of his mouth when he tried to speak. "O-Oh.." his voice trailed off, the end coming off as a shaky sigh. "I-I'm sorry." This was bad. He knew from all the years they've know eachother that Kappa rarely stutterers, only when he's sad or scared. It was painful to think of Kappa being afraid of him. When Siren had finally gotten his voice back, Kappa was already leaving.

"Hey! Wait!" Kappa began running. Running away from him. It was his fault. He should've said something else, something, Anything! But he didn't. Shut up Siren! This was probably for the best. Now he can focus on other things. But what else was there to do now... things could've gone differently, if he wasn't so stupid. If he just didn't run away for once in his life, then maybe he could've spared Kappa from his words. Then maybe, he could've made him happy. His best friend. The boy he loved. His everything.

When he realized his legs were stable enough to walk, Kappa was already out of sight. Siren looked down at his hands, they were trembling. And I think we all know, it wasn't from the cold thick snow covering the fields.

He was walking home that day, the tears that had run from his eyes felt like frost on his cheeks. He thought of Kappa, again. Tears welled in his eyes. Suddenly his legs shook and his body collapsed on the sidewalk. More tears streamed down his cheeks as he sobbed. "Siren?" He heard a quiet voice ask. He looked up but couldn't make out who the figure was from the blurryness of his eyes. Whoever it was dropped down next to his and hugged him. At this point Siren was careless of who it was, he just wanted to hug them.

He let out small sobs as the figure held onto him tightly. "Let's get you home okay?" The voice was clearer in his ears now, it was almost embarrassing finding out who it was. "Skiff?" Skiff pulled away and helped him up. "Yeah?" Siren leaned his head on skiff's shoulder as they walked. "Thank you..." he sighed. How careless could he be? Crying in his best friends arms on the sidewalk after HE broke someone's heart. Well... his mother likes Skiff.. maybe?....

I mean he could just forget about Kappa, I mean it's not like he'll love him forever. His short fluffy hair and bright yellow eyes and... and.. SHUT UP SIREN! STOP THINKING ABOUT HIM! "Are you okay?" Skiff asked quietly. Siren took a long time think about that question. "Kinda." Skiff reached his arm around Siren as they walked. "Well, here we are! If you need anything call me, okay?" For some reason, Siren just couldn't bring himself to let Skiff leave. He pulled Siren into one last hug that they held for awhile.
