Authors note
Have you ever imagined what happens to someone after death? Of course many people have debated, argued and come to their own conclusions about their fate at the end of their lives. Whether they lived long or short, what could be considered a morally right or wrong life to some people's point of view.
This story takes that concept many have already covered in their stories but the main focus has nothing to do with major accepted beliefs or arguments such as faith and morality. Rather it is just a story I thought of one day and is just my telling of one of the things I would possibly like to do in the afterlife or 'next life' if given the choice and is purely just a story for entertainment.

File 1: the end of an individual.
A tattered yet proud flag flutters in the ashen wind of a barren, crater filled, war torn field in contrast to the warm clear blue sky, with the distant sound of battle and wind intertwined in their own conflict. A beaten yet stable road stretches beside it, a convoy of armoured yet mobile vehicles are barreling down the path with insignia matching that of its proud brother standing in the battered field.
The Driver of the front most vehicle leading the convoy radios the other vehicles, "approaching the objective, be ready to depart."
The 'objective' is a town whose civilians had fled and evacuated in the direction opposite and is now under the control of enemy forces.
A somewhat young yet rugged man holding a combat helmet sitting at the exit of a troop carrier known to his men as corporal Stems turns and shouts over the rumbling of the engine "Once we arrive proceed as briefed, if we catch this pile here then we give the main force and coalition a chance to catch up before they expand in our direction".
The men packed together in this troop carrier are uniform but have minor accessory differences that set them apart such as masks, berets and helmets. Among the closely packed troops at the front of the troop carrier furthest away from the steel doors sits a soldier with a cloth tube mask, dark tinted goggles and helmet obscuring his face but is assumedly quite young due to the fact those chosen for this mission were all young, quick and manoeuvrable for what little extra chance of survival it adds.
He holds a bullpup type rifle that is the standard issue of his military, wears light body armour with a rank slide signifying he is a lance corporal that covers his multiple terrain purposed fatigues. Spare magazines and grenades are carried on him along with a bayonet, ready for the upcoming urban battle.
The troop carrier rattles as it travels, then comes to a slow halt in view of the town.
Corporal Stems slams his lid on his head, while opening the doors at the back he orders "move into position!" as he dives out into a crouched position facing the town next to the vehicle as the packed men funnel out of the troop carrier into a defensive formation, crouching and proning themselves behind what cover they can if any with no opportunity to talk with each other.
