Prologue

Hi, my name is Isabella Gilbert the younger twin sister of Jeremy. My and Jer are 17 turning 18 in two months. Our family is made up of our parents Grayson and Miranda Gilbert and our older "sister" who is actually our cousin. In our lives only two people had shown me and Jer what love felt like and that is our mother and aunt Jenna. Our father was more focused on Elena then us growing up and Elena has always been a stuck-up brat. But none of us cared for her much, mom and aunt Jenna favored us more than Elena and I know you might be thinking 'maybe Elena is like that because she wants her mother attention' I can tell you it isn't. 

Elena just has been like that from a young age, mom used to love all of us the same, but the more Elena became bossy and thought she was better than everyone else was when mom started to favorer us more. My life and Jer's haven't been the easiest because from the moment we turned 9 we unlocked something in us. Me and Jeremy are supernatural, I am from the Fae species and Jeremy is from the protector clan. Faes has always been around before witches and Vampires and werewolves, we're the ultimate species, Jeremy is from the protector clan. They get assigned to protect a Fae, even though we are immortal that doesn't happen until your 18th birthday, but our powers come out at our 17th. 

Mine and Jers powers were supposed to come out when we turned 17 but a few days after our 9th birthday is when something happened. Me and Jer had gotten new bikes from mom and aunt Jenna that we had wanted, Elena had also wanted a bike, but her birthday wasn't for another four months. Me, Jer, Mom and aunt Jenna all went out to test the bikes, but when Me and Jer were going down a hill the breaks wouldn't work and the both of us were heading straight for a cliff. Mom and Jenna had tried to catch up to us, but they weren't fast enough and we went over but instead of falling to our death I grew wings and flew me and Jer back to the top

That's when we figured what was going on. Mom and Aunt Jenna were afraid but not of us, for us. They both knew was Grayson did for a living and were afraid what that would mean for the two of us, so we all kept it a secret and trained in secret so no one would find out. Everything was amazing for the next 8 years until on family game night, Elena snuck out to the last day of school party and got drunk, so mom and Grayson had to pick her up. This is when our lives took a turn for the worst mom, Grayson and Elena went over the bridge and died but somehow Elena got out of the car alive. I still blame myself, one of my powers is feeling death around the people who will die soon, and I never figured it out until it was too late, Jer and Aunt Jenna told me over and over it wasn't on me because that was a new power, but I can't let it go

For the next three months Elena has been locked in her room only coming out to eat and shower but that's it, while Me and Jer went out in the real world. We got part time jobs wanting to save up money to leave this town when we turn 18 because one of the two people who kept us here is now gone. Over those months all me Jer and Jenna have heard is 'How is Elena doing?' or 'Is Elena feeling better?' or 'Tell her I'm sorry for her lose'. It's like the town people don't care that me and Jeremy lost our mother and Jenna lost her sister, so we've been working on leaving  

Now once school started up again is when Elena wants to be part of our lives once more, she has been trying to be mom for us and no matter how many times we told her to leave us alone she never did because in her words "I'm your big sister. I need to step up" me and Jer rolled our eyes and left not caring for her. We knew that vampire's came into town and knew she was dating one before she did but never said anything. It was on Halloween when everything went to shit me, and Jer were outside by the buses to get fresh air when Vikki attacked us, and Elena and hero hair saved us not that we needed him

After getting home me and Jer booked it upstairs and packed a small bag of clothes, our phones, laptops, and drawings before I met Jer in his room. He grabbed all the money we saved up and stuffed it into his backpack while I got all our clothes "Come on, we can stop at the grill for something to eat on the road" I told him grabbing her hand and dragging him out the house and towards our car

Once me and Jer got our license Aunt Jenna got us a car for the both of us, Elena was jealous since she didn't get a car and when she demanded us to give her our car Jenna stepped in and reminder her that she had a 'fear' of cars since the accident making him stutter until we left "I'll drive" Jeremy said getting in the driver seat

The drive to the grill was silent, we order something light and two drinks. While we were waiting for our food Elena and her pet Vampire's showed up "There you guys are, let's go" Elena said gripping our wrists. Jeremy quickly pulled his wrist free before grabbing hand that was still holding mine and ripped it off "Don't touch us" 

Some of the people around stopped talking and paid attention to us "I can touch you guys. I'm your older-" 

"Sister" I rolled my eyes "Yeah we know that's what you keep saying but guess what? Your not our older sister! Your just some mom and Grayson took in because Uncle John couldn't keep your ass!" I snapped, I was so fed up with her acting like our sister when she isn't "What? Of course I'm your sister" 

"No your not mom told us" Jeremy back me up as Matt came back with our food looking between us and the three of them "Everything okay?" Matt asked coming around to stand beside us, he was one of the people who didn't care about Elena. After she broke up with him, me and Jeremey helped him and Vicky out since Vicky hanged out with us  

"Everything's fine Matt" Elena smiled at him but he didn't look convinced and turned to us making Elena face drop "You two okay?" I looked from Elena to Matt smiling at him "Yeah we're okay. We're just heading out" I blinked twice, a code we made. He knew Jer and I wanted to leave town and he knew we've been collecting money to leave, he said he wanted to know when we were leaving so he could join

It was a plan, Jer and I would leave first, then a few days later Jenna would leave with Matt and Vicky. Both siblings knew of the supernatural and lucky for us, I gave Vicky a protection bracelet, she might be dead now but she should wake up in a couple of hours in her house. Matt nodded once letting me know he understood and left to the back again 

"Leaving where?" Elena asked making me turn back to her "Leaving town, what else?" Jeremy asked rolling his eyes "What!" Elena yelled making the vamps wince "You can't leave! I'm supposed to be watching you!" 

"No your not!" I yelled back making her step back in shock, everyone looked at me like I grew a head, it was well known that I was the silent, happy twin between me and Jer but when I'm pushed I push back "Elena after Grayson and mom died you locked yourself in your room not caring about anyone and the fucked up part is that everyone cared for you! Do you know how many people came up to me and Jer and Jenna asking how you were and you were coping with the deaths of Grayson and Mom?! It was like no one cared that Jer and I lost our parents or that Jenna lost her sister, no they only cared for a girl who caused their deaths!" 

Everyone in the grill looked guilty at the first part, and they should. They cared about someone who wasn't even their real daughter and not about their real kids and mom's sister but they all gasped when I said Elena killed them. Elena looked around nervously as Stefan and Damon looked at her confused 

"What... I didn't- Dad drove off a bridge" 

"Oh please" Jeremy scoffed "You think we don't know about the lies you told everyone. How mom and Grayson were always fighting and that you snuck out because you wanted to get away. Mom and Grayson only fought when Grayson gave too much attention to you and not us but they never fought like you said! Grayson went over the bridge because he finally agreed with mom about sending your ass off to boarding school, and you punched him in the arm making him lose control! You killed our mom! You killed Jenna sister! And you killed your father! That is what we know" 

"No... No I didn't" Elena looked around seeing many people recording this "They're lying and we're going home" she grabbed our arms and tried to drag us out but I pushed her to the floor making her fall on her ass "Don't touch us again" I glowed my white while Jeremy glowed his eyes blue

Only Elena and the Salvatore brothers saw and the brothers stepped back knowing what our eye color's mean while Elena gasped at us but we could see Jealously in her eyes "Leave us alone. Don't make us tell you again" Jeremy told her before grabbing my hand, we both left the grill and hopped in the car 

Jeremy pulled away just as Elena and her pets ran outside but we were already down the street "To a new life" I said looking at my twin "To a new life" he repeated smiling at me as we passed the 'Now leaving Mystic Fall's' sign
