Kai has always been a secretive boy, not letting his friends help him in fear of being seen as weak or out of control. He could not be weak or out of control. That lead to people getting hurt, people getting killed. And the fire ninja knew this all too well, the more emotion he showed the weaker he seemed, the weaker he seemed the weaker he was. So he lay facing the ceiling of the cramped dark room, sprawled out on the weathered mattress, dread filling his head as a knock rang throughout it. He wanted to be alone right now.Of course his friends knew he didn't tell them all there was but they also knew he was smart enough to know when he had to tell. Atleast they thought so.....
The door was pushed open by the friendly, but pitying face of Cole, the master of earth. He silently walked over to kais bed and perched next to him "what's going on this time hm?" he spoke softly as to not worry the fire ninja, almost as a father did to a son. Kai groaned in response, he did not feel like talking. Or maybe it was the fear of tears falling that put him off it, either way no words would be spoken from the boys mouth tonight. Cole sighed, it was never easy to ease kai out of his shell and he acknowledged that. Cole was one of the few people the master of fire let in, and though the boy was ashamed of it, Cole was the shoulder that he would often cry on. "c'mon kai, what's up?" once again the boy groaned, turning his body to face away from coles and curling himself up into a ball as to hide his face. He didn't want to talk, he didn't want to be pitied and he certainly didn't want be weak. "you can't hide it forever bud, if you feel like opening up come find me yeah?" and with that the master of earth stood and softly stepped out of the room, gently sliding the door closed behind him.
He didn't want to push his friend too far, you see kai had been hiding in his room for the whole day. He hadn't even come out for food or let anyone in prior to Cole so he knew overwhelming him would just result in being thrown out forcefully.-the next day-
Kai has not slept one bit, he instead layed in the same position Cole left him in, contemplating what he had come to. I mean he's the fire ninja right? So why on earth was he laid there sulking about some stupid little flare up!? Oh that's right... you don't know;the day prior to his "melt down", he had been solo training late into the evening as he usually did when his hands started to burn... They were on fire? But he didn't do that on purpose, it was like they had a mind of their own! He panicked and quickly shook his hands in an attempt to put out the fire, once this had proved successful he stood in shock for a good 40 minutes before tears sprung to his eyes and he was hit with a full blown panic attack, falling to his knees and sobbing. Though many of you probably see this as dramatic, Kais' entire self worth rested on being strong and in control and even this breif moment of weakness was terrifing for him. He scurried back to his room and slammed the door shut, not leaving his room for the entire next day. This morning he could hear his friends training in the courtyard and decided he couldn't sulk forever;he was going to join them. No matter how scared he was of losing control he was more scared of worrying his friends so with that he got up and dressed before walking out into the courtyard and being met with a mix of concerned and relieved looks from his teammates. Jay was the first to pipe up "heyy kai, feeling better?", kai looked at him with a small smile and nodded "yeah bro- I don't know what got into me yesterday but I'm all good now". His friends weren't buying it at all.
Despite their doubts they allowed Kai to carry on and join them in training without further questioning. They teamed up in pairs and decided to spar; Nya vs zane, Lloyd vs Jay and Kai vs Cole. All was well untill Cole brought up how Kai needed to talk to someone about what was upsetting him and this seemed to set kai off once more. The fireboy yelled back "Can't you let my buissness be my buissness?! Why do you have to know everything?! Hm?!". Cole took a step back from Kai, visibly anxious, eyes darting from his eyes to his hands "dude calm down, no need to use your powers here it's a no element session remember?" Kais' eyes kit up with fear as his eyes were drawn to his hands, his arms... They were on fire again. Oh god oh lord how was this happening AGAIN. He can't of lost control of his element, that was impossible. Yet it was undeniable that the flames were growing, climbing up his arm engulfing him in flames and he couldn't stop it.
"kai. KAI, STOP IT" the poor fire ninja could here the yells of his friends trying to get him to extinguish himself but he just couldn't, no matter how hard he tried. He could feel tears invade his eyes as he attempted to control the fire with no avail. This was interrupted by a great deal of water flooding his body and putting out the flames, his vision cleared to see his friends surrounding him with apprehensive expressions. "Kai... what's going on?" Nya spoke with a soft, tentative voice making it clear she wanted nothing but to help her brother. He became shaken as he faced his teammates "nothing is wrong, it was just a slip up, everything's Fine."
